Chess is considered difficult because it requires a combination of strategic planning, tactical skill, and a good understanding of the rules and objectives of the game. The complexity of the game increases as the players become more skilled and are able to see and plan for more possibilities on the board.
Those who play chess would know that playing this mind game against a skilled opponent can be mentally taxing, as players need to constantly think, evaluate, and make decisions. On the other hand, people might assume that arranging chess would be easy, but apparently it’s not. There is a world record for arranging the game in the shortest amount of time.
This time, it’s a girl from Puducherry who bagged this world record. A video of her doing so has surfaced. Have a look here.
Puducherry girl sets world record for arranging chess
The girl from Puducherry holds the Guinness World Record for the quickest time required by an individual to arrange a chess set one piece at a time.
The official Instagram account of Guinness World Records shared a video of S. Odelia Jasmine rapidly laying the chess set pieces on the mat. She set the record for the “fastest time to arrange a chess set” in 29.85 seconds, and it is apparent from the banner in the video’s background that this record was made in 2021.
The Guinness World Records official website verifies the date as July 20, 2021. According to the comments left on the video by Guinness World Records, S. Odelia Jasmine’s greatest ambition was to acquire a Guinness World Records title. She spent a full year practising to beat this record.
In another note, Guinness World Records stated that this title has previously been held by four other people. David Rush (USA) set the record in 2021 with 30.31 seconds, Nakul Ramaswamy (USA) set the mark in 2019 with 31.55 seconds, Alva Wei (USA) set the record in 2015 with 32.42 seconds, and Dalibor Jablanovic (Serbia) set the record in 2014 with 34.20 seconds.
Why is internet mocking Jasmine?
Even after the girl has brought home the honour of a prestigious world record, the people on the internet are, however, not impressed by the act. Some people even said this shouldn’t be a world record, while others quipped that they could “easily” do it.
A man wrote, “Is this even a record,” while another added, “Bro i can do it faster than that even with one hand.”
Another lady added, “feel like i can do this in 15 seconds tho.”
A man shared, “I’m assuming this is one handed? Regardless, you could split this time in half by placing two or three pieces at the same time. I honestly feel like I could break this record with about 60 minutes of practice…”
A man made a sarcastic comment and wrote, ” Up next, most snooze alarms before getting up for work.”
