Sergio Aguero has said that Mykhaylo Mudryk’s signing could be a game-changer for Chelsea, with the £88million transfer having the potential to transform the Blues’ season.

Mudryk was poached from under the nose of London rivals Arsenal, with the transfer being completed very much out of the blue with the Gunners having looked to be favourites for the player’s signature throughout. There will be the hope from owner Todd Boehly that the signing can spark Chelsea into life, with struggles in recent months leaving Graham Potter’s side 10th in the Premier League table.

Following a break this weekend, the Blues could return to league action rejuvenated, starting against Fulham on Friday night at Stamford Bridge. This is Aguero’s feeling, with the legendary Premier League goalscorer saying that the transfer could be the catalyst for transformation at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to Stake.com, Aguero praised the business which has been done by Boehly and Chelsea, saying: “The major clubs have made their moves already, and there’s not much time left. Maybe there’s a last minute surprise, it’s impossible to tell.

“The market did have a lot of movement and teams had really important additions. Mudryk going to Chelsea comes to mind. It really lifted up their spirits and it looks like a big win for their team.”

Mykhailo Mudryk breaks Premier League season speed record after only 35 minutes on pitch

Mudryk made his debut for Chelsea against Liverpool in the 0-0 draw earlier this month, but with close to a two week break following that match it will have been a great chance for Potter and his squad to regroup as they prepare to chase for continental qualification for the rest of the season.

The Ukrainian cost Chelsea an initial £62m from Shakhtar Donetsk. The total fee could reach £88m with add-ons.
