Lou Ferrigno Declares Himself ‘Bigger’ Than Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dwayne Johnson in This Iconic Role

The character of the Roman divine – Hercules, is one of the most iconic roles in Hollywood. Since 1958, several actors have portrayed the role in various forms and genres. However, bodybuilder-turned-actor Lou Ferrigno boldly claimed he was the perfect among all. Why?

In a recent Instagram post, Ferrigno revealed the answer to the question while sharing an unseen photo from his Hercules days. Here is what he said.

Was Lou Ferrigno the most muscled Hercules?

Legendary bodybuilders Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steve Reeves, and ex-wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson were a few of the most famous ‘Hercules’ beside Lou Ferrigno. Yet the Italian actor believes his physique was the most suited for the role. In his latest Instagram post caption, Ferrigno wrote, “This picture was taken right before I left to film Hercules in Italy. I am proud to say I was the biggest and most defined Hercules in cinema.” The veteran actor had featured in Hercules (1983) and The Adventures of Hercules (1985) which were fan favorites due to Ferrigno’s huge body structure.

In his post, Ferrigno also revealed his favorite workout, which helped him gain the desired results for the iconic mythological role. He added, “Seated overhead cable tricep extensions are my favorite tricep exercise and helped me get ripped for the part. Usually did 4-5 sets and 8-10 reps each time

It seems like ‘The Hulk’ had taken his role as the ‘Roman God’ quite seriously and enjoyed doing the part. However, despite all the fun and the praise she received, Ferrigno was still upset with the Hercules filmmakers for making a particular change in the movie.

Ferrigno wanted his voice to be heard

In both the Hercules movies featuring Ferrigno, instead of using his original voice, the filmmakers dubbed his voice. When the star was informed about this, he was not very pleased with the decision. He felt his natural voice would have done more justice to the role.

But, the makers choose to dub Ferrigno’s voice due to his inability to deliver a clear dialogue. Since a young age, Ferrigno has been suffering from a hearing disability and has 80–85% hearing loss. Due to this, the superstar faced trouble with his speech as well. Regardless, Ferrigno still had a great time shooting the Hercules movies and had a great time on the set.

However, his recent claim might come as a surprise for a few, but many would also agree with his statement. Do you also believe Lou Ferrigno was the ‘most muscular’ Hercules ever?
