With the new Z06 and upcoming E-Ray adding diversity to the Corvette portfolio, a widebody C8 ZR1 like this makes a lot of sense.
The Chevrolet Corvette is a name that speaks for itself thanks to its decades-long history as one of the most popular and recognizable American sports cars on the road. The Corvette has undergone several changes over its lifespan, becoming one of the oldest nameplates in the game.
Now in its eighth generation, the Chevrolet Corvette C8 is both a continuation of the Corvette’s legacy and a forge into new territory. All C8 models use a mid-engine setup, the upcoming Corvette E-Ray will be the first electrified version of the car, and the 2023 Corvette Z06 is a modern powerhouse with an exotic engine that rivals Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren.
With all the changes the C8 Corvette has brought on, HotCars Digital Artist Rostislav Prokop renders a widebody version of the C8, adding another fresh take on one of the world’s most beloved sports cars. With a rumored C8 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 around the corner, GM could learn a thing or two from this stunning new render.
Chevrolet Corvette C8 Widebody
Speed enthusiasts and race car drivers often love a widebody setup on a car thanks to the body style’s improved traction and better handling. Widebody vehicles also can have improved aerodynamics over other cars. The driving dynamics are just part of it though, as widebody vehicles often look amazing. The aesthetic appeal alone is often enough to make them desirable to onlookers. Widebody vehicles can come in kits that include flared fenders, side skirts, spoilers, and more. In some cases, OEMs will offer a production widebody version of a car, with the Dodge Charger Widebody being a notable example.
In this render, Prokop takes a similar approach as Dodge does with the widebody Charger and keeps the Corvette’s design sleek enough to still appear OEM produced. The C8 Corvette has wider tires, which is one of the main components of a widebody setup as well as large, aftermarket wheels. The render has a black cherry exterior paint, a subtlety in comparison to the bold, bright colors that Corvette renders often feature, giving a stealthy feeling to the C8.
A front lower lip on the face of the car as well as prominent fender flares and a side skirt below the doors further alter the Corvette’s body. The changes to the car give it a low profile and widen its overall stance, ensuring this modified Corvette will be ready to do some damage on the track. The render also uses a black spoiler at the rear of the car, another common widebody addition over a stock version of a car. Overall, it’s an attractively styled Corvette that feels like it could get integrated into the Corvette’s current lineup which is growing increasingly diverse.
Powering This C8 Chevrolet Corvette Widebody
The base model 2023 Corvette C8 Stingray goes from 0-60 mph in just 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 194 mph and 495 horsepower. The even more powerful 2023 Corvette Z06 takes performance to the next level. It boasts 670 horsepower and the 0-60 time improves to 2.6 seconds.
Now, if Chevrolet does indeed release a ZR1 model based on the C8 Corvette, there won’t be many sports cars on the road that could challenge it. According to GM Authority, the C8 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 should come with a twin-turbocharged version of the 5.5-liter V8 in the Z06 with at least 850 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque. With that kind of performance combined with a widebody similar to Prokop’s render above, every automaker with a performance car would have something to worry about.
