Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has declared that he is doing everything he can to provide Antonio Conte with “the best players we can afford.”

The 61-year-old does not speak to the media often, and Spurs fans have regularly criticised him for his lack of communication.
Some of them have even decided that it is time for Levy and their owners ENIC to sell up, after being left frustrated by their lack of spending compared to the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal.
But, speaking on the Premier League production Daniel Levy: Building a Home, the chairman has insisted that he only wants the best for the club, despite them winning just one trophy – the 2008 League Cup – during his tenure.
He said: “I think when you are involved in football the one thing [is] we all want to win, not everyone can win.
“It is very very difficult, we are not in control of what happens every time there is a game. All we can do is give the manager the best players that we can afford.
“Inside there is real emotion. I am just being respectful for the opposing team around me. If we lose, it ruins my whole weekend. If we play bad, it is even worse. If we win, it is great.”
Levy is also known for his ruthless approach when sacking managers. In particular, he received backlash after sacking Mauricio Pochettino in 2019, only months after he had led Spurs to the Champions League final, where they lost to Liverpool.
Levy admits it’s ‘difficult’ to find a long-term manager
As for Conte, it remains unclear whether he will stay at the London club beyond this season, with his current contract set to run out this summer.
Levy added: “Managers know that it is just part of the game that managers come and go.
“But we all dream that we want to have a manager that lasts 10-15 years. It is very, very difficult.”
Spurs currently find themselves in fifth place in the Premier League table, just one point adrift of the top four after winning 12 of their 22 opening matches.
They picked up a particularly impressive result against Manchester City on Sunday, beating them 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Levy has spent heavily on new additions this season, too, bringing in the likes of Richarlison (£60m) and Cristian Romero (£42.5m) last summer, before adding Pedro Porro and Arnaut Danjuma in January on loan deals, with an obligation to buy.
With that in mind, there is no doubt that the chairman clearly wants to improve his team, as well as bringing in multiple top managers, like Conte.
However, until Tottenham have another major trophy to show for his efforts, their supporters are unlikely to be satisfied.
