Fujitora is an admiral and one of the strongest One Piece characters. However, the nature of his Devil Fruit has yet to be introduced in the anime.
In the world of One Piece, the World Government is the highest authority; they have control over the Marines, and every Marine soldier must listen to their command. The high-ranking members of the Marines are extremely strong, making them all the more fearsome. Issho, commonly known by his alias Fujitora, is one of the Marine admirals, having the power of an extremely powerful Devil Fruit. He was introduced in the “Dressrosa” arc and fought against Luffy, Law and the Revolutionary Army. Fujitora is the first admiral to appear after the time skip and quickly became popular among fans.
Despite his loyalty to the Marines, he is well-liked by One Piece fans because of his strong sense of justice and his ability to distinguish between right and wrong. The attribute of his Devil Fruit is similar to gravity control, making him one of the most terrifying characters in the series. By now, fans are aware that he is strong enough to bring meteors down to Earth, and he is quite reckless while using such terrifying power. However, the anime doesn’t go into much detail about his Devil Fruit, not even mentioning its name.
What Is Fujitora’s Devil Fruit and What Powers Does It Give Him?
Fujitora has the power of “Zushi Zushi no Mi,” a paramecia-type Devil Fruit. The name of the Devil Fruit translates to “Press-Press Fruit.” In English, Zushizushi means a “thump” or “thud” sound. The appearance of the fruit is unknown since Eiichiro Oda never formally introduced the Devil Fruit to the viewers. After consuming this fruit, Fujitora is given the power to create and manipulate gravitational forces. He activates his power by unsheathing his sword, suggesting a possible connection between his weapon and his Devil Fruit abilities. By swinging his sword in the air, Fujitora can bring down meteors and drop them on his opponents.
He also creates gravitational forces, which are portrayed as circles of purple-colored energy that connect to his epithet. Fujitora doesn’t necessarily have to come in contact with a target to use his powers on them, whether they are living or inanimate. For example, during his and Doflamingo’s attack on Trafalgar Law, he was able to hold the pirate down with his Devil Fruit power without touching him. Zushi Zushi no Mi is somewhat similar to Fuwa Fuwa no Mi, which is Shiki’s power.
Shiki and Fujitora can both manipulate gravity. While Fujitora’s power is centered around pulling, pressing and propelling objects in multiple directions, Shiki’s fruit corresponds to telekinesis. Furthermore, this Devil Fruit bears a striking resemblance to Yami Yami no Mi (Blackbeards’ Devil Fruit). While Yami Yami no Mi can generate powerful gravity using its darkness, it cannot control it. On the other hand, Issho can not only create gravity but also manipulate it at his convenience.
Zushi Zushi no Mi Techniques
Fujitora’s signature Devil Fruit technique is “Gravito” — a technique he uses to manipulate gravitational forces by channeling the power of his Devil Fruit into his sword. This is the only reason he is able to create gravitational forces by simply moving or swinging his sword. He can create gravitational forces in any direction — up, down or even side — but usually only one at a time. Another powerful technique his Devil Fruit grants him is “Moko,” meaning “Fierce Tiger.”
Using this technique, Fujitora can generate a massive amount of gravitational force around him that knocks away everything in its path, including his opponents and any surrounding trees or buildings. This extremely powerful force is able to destroy the buildings and the ground, reducing them to rubble. This technique can be identified by the black lightning created by the gravitational force around Fujitora. The black lighting doesn’t have any specific meaning since it’s primarily used as a visual effect before a powerful attack.
Moko is called “Raging Tiger” in English adaptations, which is a reference to Issho’s epithet, Fujitora, meaning “wisteria tiger.” There are also two more of his techniques that have yet to be properly introduced in the main story. One is “Jigoku Tabi,” a technique that allows him to slice through a large group of enemies over a large area. As he sheathes his sword, it causes a strong gravitational force downward, sending his enemies into a massive crater. This technique is also called “Trip to Hell.” Another of his techniques is called “Abare Himatsuri,” also known as “Raging Fire Festival.” This allows him to levitate a piece of rock that he is standing on into the air and fly across a battlefield. Not only that, but Fujitora can also simultaneously cause a storm of meteorites in his wake.
The Strengths and Weaknesses of Zushi Zushi no Mi
Despite being a paramecia type, Fujitora’s Devil Fruit is one of the strongest in the series. The person with the powers of Zushi Zushi no Mi is given the ability to create and manipulate gravitational forces without restraint. Fujitora can lift tons of debris and a giant battleship into the air and keep them intact without getting tired. He can bend gravity according to his will and move objects with precision, granting him a form of telekinesis. Furthermore, he can nullify natural gravity and manipulate different gravity fields at the same time. This is shown in the “Dressrosa” arc, where he was seen holding a massive amount of rubble in the sky and attacking Luffy at the same time.
However, one weakness that his Devil Fruit possess is that his gravity powers can be disrupted by attacking the user himself. This was shown during Fujitora’s fight with Roronoa Zora in the “Dressrosa” arc. The pirate used a projectile slash to interrupt the admiral from keeping him in the gravitational pressure. The slight disruption caused by Zoro’s attack allowed him to break free of Fujitora’s restraints. Furthermore, Fujitora’s ability to restrain people with his power isn’t invincible. For example, he will have a difficult time holding off those with extremely strong physical abilities.
