Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag heads out for a solo Valentine’s Day bike ride

Football stars are known for their flash cars, but Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag took a different approach on Valentine’s Day.

Ten Hag was seen riding his bike in Cheshire and headed to Marks & Spencer on his way home.

Onlookers will surely have been surprised to have seen the Dutchman on his bike.

It’s a busy week for United as they face Barcelona away in the Europa League on Thursday before hosting Leicester in the Premier League three days later.

Ten Hag’s side endured a difficult start to the season, but they have shown some encouraging signs of late.

Following their victory against Leeds on Sunday, Manchester United are in third place in the league, five points adrift of leaders Arsenal, who have two games in hand.

United are concerned that they could take a £40million hit on Harry Maguire if he leaves this summer.

Maguire joined United from Leicester in 2019 for a fee of £80million but he has only made five starts in the Premier League this season.

Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand believes that Marcus Rashford can become even more ‘horrible’ to play against.

Rashford has been in excellent form recently, scoring 13 goals in 15 games since domestic football resumed following the World Cup.

However, Ferdinand feels that Rashford can sometimes make it ‘easy’ for defenders.

Ten Hag's side, including Marcus Rashford, are preparing for their clash against Barcelona

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: ‘If I’m a defender sometimes I look at Marcus and he can make it easy for defenders sometimes in the game.

If he offered the threat in behind a bit more, then I think he’d get even more joy to feet and becomes that threat in behind still.

‘That part of the game there, his decision making on whether to come long or short, if he gets that he becomes even more of a horrible player to play against.’
