Manchester United fans spotted the true emotion of Bruno Fernandes after Diogo Dalot missed an absolute sitter following an inch-perfect cross against Leicester.
Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes couldn’t hide his anger after Diogo Dalot missed a golden chance to score against Leicester from inside the six-yard box.
The midfielder couldn’t quite believe that his Portugal international colleague hadn’t flicked the ball past Danny Ward after a textbook one-two down the right hand side.
With the right-back trying to score with the outside of his right boot, he ended up almost missing the ball entirely as it dribbled wide – with Fernandes looking up the sky and kicking out in the fresh air.
One United said: “Oh my Dalot had to score that, Fernandes had done all the work for him.”
A second posted: “What a ball from Fernandes. How on earth has Dalot missed?!?”
A third wrote: “What was going on in Dalot’s head? Fernandes robbed of another assist.”
A fourth posted: “Story of Bruno Fernandes. Doesn’t get assists because Dalot and others can’t finish goals like that.”
Gary Neville said of the chance on Sky Sports: “From one non-scoring right-back to another I don’t think I can give him advice.
“But it looks like he should go with his left, it looks really awkward. Massive chance for Man Utd.”
With Marcus Rashford already on target, Dalot’s miss didn’t come back to bite United thanks to Rashford’s second and Jadon Sancho grabbing a third.
Despite the half-time scoreline, Leicester had the better of the opening 45 minutes with David de Gea making two fine stops with Brendan Rodgers’ men failing to build on their period of control.
Ten Hag and his players can now focus on their Europa League play-off round second-leg against Barcelona, having impressing in the 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou in midweek.
