Liverpool ended Newcastle’s 17-match unbeaten run
Liverpool beat Newcastle 2-0 thanks to two goals from Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo.
In the 24th round of the English Premier League, Liverpool came as a guest on the field of Newcastle in a match that is not expected to be easy.
However, The Kop started the match very smoothly.
In the 10th minute, Arnold accurately passed the ball to Nunez to open the scoring.
Seven minutes later, Salah played the assist.
The finisher to make the score 2-0 for The Kop was Gakpo.
Things got worse for Newcastle.
Goalkeeper Nick Pope caught the ball with his hand outside the box and received a direct red card in the 22nd minute.
Newcastle had to sacrifice midfielders for reserve goalkeeper Dubravka to come on.
Playing with only 10 people, Newcastle still tried to create pressure, but the number of opportunities created was not too many.
In the second half, Liverpool both played and recovered but still managed to win 2-0.
This result gives Liverpool 35 points and continues to raise hopes of winning tickets to the Champions League next season.
