The England international was announced officially as a Manchester United player on Friday and spoken about the poignant tribute to his brother in one of his tattoos
Jadon Sancho has explained the poignant meaning behind one of his tattoos.
The new Manchester United signing has a touching tribute to his late brother on his left forearm, after he passed away when he was in primary school.
Sancho has officially confirmed as a United player on Friday after months of negotiations with Borussia Dortmund.
The 21-year-old spent four successful years in Germany after bravely joining Dortmund from Manchester City and returns to England as one of Europe’s most exciting prospects.
Sancho is currently on summer break after England duty at Euro 2020, but United fans cannot wait to see the youngster line up in a red shirt for the first time.
Sancho has opened up on the meaning about his most poignant tattoo
When Sancho walks out onto Old Trafford for the first time, they will notice his range of tattoos.
But there is one particular inked design that holds special meaning for the winger.
He opened up on the significance of the tattoo on his left forearm.
“This is my first one, the most meaningful one because my little brother passed away when he was younger,” Sancho told United’s website.
“When I was in primary school I wrote a poem which I said at the funeral.
“This one is definitely my most meaningful one.
Sancho’s tattoo includes a poem he wrote about his late brother
“Then the rest around it are birds, heaven, an angel, a butterfly, then I have my sister and brother’s initials.”
The poem reads: “You and me will stay together, you made us happy, you brought us joy, you were a special baby boy.
“I couldn’t wait till you grew up, teach you football and win the cup.
“But you’re gone what can I do? Baby brother, we love you.”
Sancho’s right arm includes artwork from his favourite comics
Sancho also revealed that the tattoo sleeve on his right arm is made up of his favourite comic book characters growing up.
“Then here I just freestyled because I liked comics when I was younger,” he added.
“This isn’t finished, when it comes there’s Spiderman, Sonic, Simpsons.
“I haven’t finished yet, there’s more to come.”
