Kylian Mbappe’s double after Lionel Messi’s goal helped the defending French champions overcome Marseille and extend the leading gap in the Ligue 1 rankings to 8 points.

Club president Khelaifi, who was present at the Stade Velodrome to watch his team play, expressed his delight at PSG’s results and supported coach Galtier and his players.

Speaking to RMC Sport, Khelaifi expressed: “I am very happy. We played a great game, a great PSG. I have always believed in my players and coaches. Galtier could be the team’s coach in about five years. I always repeat that Coach Galtier is our number one. PSG has never contacted any other military leaders. His teachers and students really played a great game.”

Mbappe opened the scoring for the big Parisian team in the 25th minute with a cool finish that sent the ball wide of the post after Messi’s cross. And just four minutes later, the Frenchman responded with a delicate pass to Messi for the Argentine superstar to score his 700th club goal.

Messi then again assisted Mbappe in the second half with a classy dribble around the Marseille defence, and the 24-year-old converted the chance into a goal to equal Edinson’s scoring record. Cavani with 200 goals as top scorer for PSG. More importantly, the two stars Messi and Mbappe saved coach Galtier’s chair, which was sometimes shaken.

President Khelaifi acknowledged Mbappe’s incredible achievement, while praising the club’s efforts during the match, calling it “the real face of PSG” and feeling the result deserved “a lot of points”. .

A stinging note for PSG is that defender Presnel Kimpembe had to leave the field early with an Achilles injury and is now out for the rest of the season, something Khelaifi expressed disappointment.

With two wins in the last two matches, PSG is creating a good psychological momentum before facing Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16.

The Bavarian team won at least 1-0 in Paris in the first leg, leaving coach Christophe Galtier’s army to play with a game that had nothing to lose and needed a victory to advance to the next round.

PSG are certainly getting back in shape after a slump, coming back from a 3-2 defeat to beat Lille 4-3 last weekend before thrashing Marseille 3-0 on Sunday.

Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe, who have faced each other in the 2022 World Cup final, have combined to score six of them, demonstrating their very good form at the moment. All of this helps keep them grounded ahead of next week’s big one-on-one match in Europe next week in Munich.
