With 919 horsepower, improved exhaust and stiffer suspension Novitec turn the dial up on McLaren’s extreme roadster.
Car tuner Novitec takes a look at the ultra-rare McLaren Elva. Novitec has a reputation for making already brilliant supercars better with improved stance, a bit more power, and a louder exhaust. Novitec now offers this for the McLaren Elva, the windshield-less and roof-less hypercar from Woking, England was one of the past few years’ ultimate track toys. With siblings found in the Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2, and Aston Martin Speedster the Elva formed the holy trinity of historically inspired roadsters of the modern era.
McLaren says their car offers a “Pure, Undiluted connection”. The Elva is based on the McLaren 720s but without that roof, or even a windshield. The Elva seems raw and a true gearhead’s holy grail. Now with Novitec offering a range of performance and aesthetic options, the McLaren Elva just got cooler and more exclusive.
With 919 horsepower, improved exhaust and stiffer suspension, Novitec turns the McLaren’s extreme roadster up to 11!
Novitec-Tuned McLaren Elva Produces Over 900 HorsepowerNovitec
Certain Novitec models, like their take on the Ferrari 812 take the internet by storm. The company primarily works with Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mclaren, Maserati, Rolls Royce, and Tesla. Offering aftermarkets that include wheels and exhausts for their customers. Buying these ensure that when in Mayfair, Dubai or Miami, your car will stand out from the riff-raff of standard supercars.
But Novitec now turns their attention to the hypercar baiting, McLaren Elva. The windshield less, British roadster only saw 149 examples. Built on the McLaren 720s this car uses a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8. In the hands of Novitec, this has a tune pushing power up to 919 horsepower. That’s an increase of 104 horsepower over the stock 815 figure.
It’s important to remember what the Elva is. A roadster, with no windshield, the Elva took aim firmly at driving purists who want to feel the window in their face. McLaren Elva owners care not for social media clout but more so want to take their cars to the track or down a twisty road early on a Sunday morning.
Novitec’s range of parts for the Elva includes the N-Tronic plug-and-play power increase module in one of two states of tune, sport catalysts, forged wheels, suspension, and spacers.
According to Novitec: “All variants involve the installation of a plug-and-play NOVITEC N-TRONIC module that upgrades the electronic engine control system. This auxiliary control unit supplies special maps for injection and ignition and also intervenes in the electronic boost pressure control”. So all Elvas that get Novitec’s magic will benefit from this extra power.
Novitec Upgrades Make The $2 Million Elva Even FasterNovitec
Novitec writes: “The union of NOVITEC high-performance tuning and McLaren lightweight construction makes the driving experience in the Elva even more spectacular”.
To overhaul the experience of driving the McLaren Elva, Novitec’s latest exhaust system changes the experience. Designed to reduce back pressure with full thermal insulation provided by gold plating, the engine bay’s temperature decreases allowing for more power. But also, as expected from Novitec it sounds a little bit better than the stock car. Novitec exhausts often get plenty of attention online when a car spotter stumbles across an owner out in the wild.
With the extra power, the Novitec McLaren Elva tops out at over 205 mph and achieves 62mph in 2.7 seconds. That’s 0.2 seconds quicker than the standard car. While perhaps not the fastest supercar on sale today, this certainly contends as one of the fastest roadsters.
Novitec Leave The Mclaren Elva’s Aerodynamics UntouchedNovitec
In the wake of the McLaren P1, the British supercar marque leaned heavily into active aerodynamic systems. These featured on the McLaren Senna, but also appear on the Elva. As the ultimate raw track toy, this is one of the key selling points for technology-obsessed owners. Novitec as a result leaves this untouched.
However, Novitec does lower the car by around 20 mm. Riding lower on Novitec’s stiff sport springs the roadster’s center of gravity is lower. So owners can get around a corner a little faster, although without that windshield surely the limiting factor soon becomes the driver’s ambition to keep their face in place.
But to give their take on the Elva a little more style, the tuners work with Vossen to supply the car with high-quality alloy wheels. The MC3 wheels use seven twin spokes with a center lock to provide a unique, yet McLaren and track-inspired design. These come in 72 different colors. While each McLaren Elva already appears somewhat different from any other, for better or worse, it’s great for owners to have yet another option available to them. Louder, faster and sharper Novitec continue their previous form of improving the world’s greatest hypercars.
