Kevin Durant is set to return to action for the first time in almost two months as he will make his debut for the Phoenix Suns against the Charlotte Hornets.
It’ll be the first time that he and Devin Booker will take to the court as teammates in the NBA and Durant spoke on what he loves about Booker’s game.
“I like his work ethic,” Durant said. “I remember seeing him in college, I loved his form on his jump shot at a young age. So I was like, I can tell he’s been working on his game. So just following him over the years, just seeing how quickly he developed. His IQ for the game. He understands the game. I like guys that can score from all areas of the floor and being around somebody that works like that and cares about the game like that is only going to help me. So, I’m looking forward to being around him.”
Durant has always been a very big fan of Booker. He wanted the Oklahoma City Thunder to draft him in 2015 and while it didn’t happen back then, Durant does get to team up with him 8 years later. As KD says, Booker can score from all areas on the court and for the season, he is averaging 26.5 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 5.7 APG.
Having Durant alongside him on the court will help Booker as well, as teams can no longer just focus on trying to shut him down. It is what happened in the playoffs last year which led to the Suns’ downfall at the hands of Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks, but KD’s presence ensures there won’t be a repeat of that.
Devin Booker Spoke On What The Suns Will Look Like With Kevin Durant
The two of them clearly have a lot of respect for each other and Booker was singing Durant’s praises after the trade was made. He stated that KD is a special talent the likes of which the league hasn’t seen before and that he was excited to play with him.
Booker was then asked about what the team would look like with KD and he said Durant has the type of game that you can put into any system. He also called him one of the best players to ever touch a basketball and it’ll be quite exciting to see these two in action on Wednesday night.
