Marcus Rashford was “plotted” to surpass Erling Haaland

Former England player, BLV Jamie Carragher believes that Marcus Rashford can still win over Erling Haaland in the Player of the Year poll.

Up to the present time, Marcus Rashford is showing great form in Man Utd shirt when scoring up to 25 goals in all competitions, of which 16 were scored in the last 17 matches. This achievement helps the English striker close the scoring record of Erling Haaland. Currently, Man City’s rookie has 32 goals in 31 matches since the beginning of the season.

Having had a very “destructive” form at the beginning of the season, but the main striker of The Citizens is showing signs of decline in recent times. Therefore, BLV Jamie Carragher believes that if he knows how to seize the opportunity, Marcus Rashford can surpass Erling Haaland in the Best Player race.

Specifically, the former British player shared with the Telegraph: “I don’t think Rashford is a better player than Haaland, but the result of the award of the PFA Player of the Year award (Professional Footballers Association of England – Reporter) voting is a process, I’m sure, no individual titles will be decided in September or October.

“And the period of six weeks before the vote will be decisive. So if Rashford continues to be the inspiration to help Man Utd beat Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final, the vote will be 50-50 and he will definitely receive more love.”

However, the possibility of Marcus Rashford playing in Man Utd’s first title match after many years of waiting, is still open. With the England striker injured in the clash with Barcelona and the Red Devils need to determine the severity before coach Erik ten Hag can make a staffing decision for this weekend’s match.
