It’s official. Rihanna and Alaia are a match made in heaven.
We already knew she was the unofficial queen of pregnancy fashion, but she served sartorial greatness on the red (but not red) carpet at the Oscars on Sunday night wearing an iconic look that put baby number two front and centre. And the look gave us a serious case of deja vu, as she pretty much just gave her iconic Super Bowl look an edgy black tie makeover and quite frankly, we’re obsessed.

The Rude Boy singer hit the champagne carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, before heading on stage to perform Lift Me Up – her song from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She wore a leather dress from Alaia that took ‘cut out’ to new heights.

The dress boasted a figure hugging bralet-esque top half with chunky straps and layered with a sheer high neck bodycon piece. The skirt possessed flattering vertical panels, an elegant train and a low rise waistline that sat just below her protruding bump.
She wore her hair in a messy top knot, amping up the edgy-elegance of her look, paired with a red lip and chunky brown drop earrings from high jewellery house Moussaieff. The brand confirmed on Instagram she wore its orangey brown diamond earrings, the same coloured diamond ring and a dark brown diamond dress ring.

What you may not have noticed about this look is the style is an almost identical version of her iconic Super Bowl/Baby Bump reveal moment from February 12. Her siren red look was also from Alaia (though the bralet was Loewe), boasting a sculpted red bralet with a sheer high neck top underneath — the same layering ensemble as her Oscars look. She also wore high jewellery during her performance, wearing three epic diamond brooches that added a touch of vintage glamour.

Clearly her go-to baby bump uniform, the pregnancy dressing maestro wore a similar sheer black dress from Valentino at last year’s ceremony. The dress boasted a less fitted, more glittery agenda, but this year she was in keeping with the edgy style we saw at the Super Bowl.
Nobody does it like Rihanna.
