Chapter 1079 of One Piece updates fans of the fight between the Red-Haired Pirates and the Kid Pirates, and the result is just as expected.
One Piece Chapter 1078 makes numerous big revelations. Stussy keeps Sentomaru up to date with the World Government’s plan. She informs the young Marine that the World Government has declared Egghead a much bigger threat than Ohara, prompting Sentomaru to make every resident of Egghead evacuate. He informs them of the island’s impending doom. Meanwhile, the Straw Hats are still stuck fighting the Seraphim. Despite knowing the Seraphim’s possible weakness, even Luffy’s group is having a hard time with them.
There is also an update regarding the traitor among Dr. Vegapunk’s Satellites. In fact, Chapter 1078 finally reveals the traitor’s face, shocking even the Stella himself. The traitor turns out to be the lazy York, and she confesses to the Stella that she plans to become a Celestial Dragon. The Stella, knowing that York herself has witnessed the Celestial Dragon’s cruelty — can’t believe how the Satellite can arrive at such a decision. However, York’s reasoning doesn’t end there. The female Satellite further explains that the world does not need multiple Vegapunks. It only needs one, and that obviously would be her.
Chapter 1079 brings the narrative just a few hours prior to the present timeline. It sees the traitor York having a talk with the Seraphim. She’s ranting about how the World Government’s plan threatens her life. Apparently, it is okay for if only the Stella is targeted. But since she is also part of the hit list, she has to execute her own plans. She instructs the Seraphim to utilize the downed Frontier Dome to eliminate the obstacles obstructing her path. They are to kill everybody except her, the Stella and the people underground, a command that the Seraphim accepted without any question.
York further explains that she doesn’t want the others knowing about her being the traitor. She wants to hide her vile acts, noting that she isn’t strong enough to beat the other Satellites. And so, she instructs S-Snake to petrify her in front of everyone. Once the others have averted their gazes, she is to undo her petrification. Finally, she informs them about what part of the lab they are not to destroy. After that, she lets them loose. The Seraphim begin their dastardly hunt for the other Satellites and their allies. Meanwhile, Sentomaru is still desperately trying to make the civilians of Egghead evacuate the island. He also deploys the Pacifista to guard the evacuation process.
Back in Elbaph, the pirate captains sailing under the Red-Haired Pirates flag give the Kid Pirates a stern warning. Frog-Toes Ribbitini, Frugar the Addenturer and Pururu the Brr-Rave are the first to hold them off. But looking at their silly appearances, Kid isn’t so amused. He even doubts their allegiance to the Red-Haired Pirates. Even so, Killer warns him not to underestimate their opponent. There are numerous notorious individuals among their ranks, and being sloppy may cause them a lot. Kid, however, assures his first mate that he has no plans on doing that even if they are truly nobodies.
Meanwhile, Shanks has also finally arrived at the shore. His first directive is to move all the ships blocking their path. The pirate captains under him expresses their dismay, especially since it hasn’t been long since they’ve seen him. Even so, Shanks adamantly tells them to move their ships. Interestingly, Shanks then reminds them of their notorious status. He tells them that his affiliates — ergo, them — are famous for being weak. To which, the others just laugh off.
Shanks’ main pirate crew are already preparing to set sail. Lucky Roux also assures Shanks that they can handle the young pirates. Shanks warns them about not underestimating the younger generation, then proceeds to review Kid’s history. He also inquires whether the Kid Pirates have already recovered from the injuries they’ve accrued in Wano, and Yasopp tells him they’re already raring to fight.
On Kid’s ship, they’ve also ascertained their adversaries, Killer reports that there are nine ships blocking their path. Kid expresses his apathy and equips his signature Damned Punk. Shanks notices his movements and immediately issues his affiliates to scatter. He also instructs Dorry and Brogy to assume their positions.
Apparently, Shanks’ Color of Observation Haki is powerful enough to already see into the future. And seeing a real nasty one, he immediately heads toward Kid. He doesn’t hold back. His mere presence makes a few of Kid’s underlings to collapse, then he directly uses his Divine Departure on the young pirate.
Shanks’ attack not only deals a good amount of damage on the Kid Pirates’ ship, but it also effectively downs their captain. In addition to that, a good number of their crew members are also sent flying. When the other members of the Kid Pirates step in to check on their captain, they’ve discovered that even Killer was caught up in the attack, since the first mate attempted to protect his captain. Seeing their miserable state, the other members take it upon themselves to surrender. They hand down all of their Road Poneglyphs and beg the Emperor not to kill their captain. Yasopp then signals Shank of their whereabouts, allowing the Emperor to quickly leave the Kid Pirates’ ship.
However, the altercation isn’t over just yet. The Kid Pirates are about to learn that their actions have corresponding consequences the hard way. Since Kid pointed his cannon-like ability at Elbaph, Dorry and Brogy are more than happy to return the favor. They wield their respective weapons and unleash their signature attack — the Hakoku Sovereignty. It’s the very same attack they’ve once used to save the Straw Hat Pirates. With that, they’ve effectively split the Kid Pirates’ ship. It is then concluded that the three-billion-bounty Kid Pirates is destroyed by the hands of the Emperor Red-Haired Shanks at the War-Land Elbaph. As to whether any of them survived, only future One Piece chapters can tell.
