Fans went into a social media frenzy after Neymar’s Twitter account began posting unexplained messages, including one with unsavoury language towards a Brazilian news outlet
Brazilian football superstar Neymar appears to have been hacked on social media.
Fans were left befuddled when the Paris Saint-Germain ‘s forward Twitter account posted a tweet directed at Brazilian news outlet Choquei which said in his native Portuguese: “F*** you, I hate you.” It followed Neymar’s account also tweeting: “Salve [hi] pro bricin e mandrake77,” five times.
Another seemingly random post read: “ownado pelo zesty tmj <3 amo o snow um salve [hi] pro SRK, KOMI, B33CK_ FODACE A WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.”
After the PSG star, 30, seemed to recover his account and quickly delete the latter two tweets which fail to muster any real translation, Choquei pointed out that the one directed towards them remained online. “We love you too, Neymar,” they joked.
Neymar’s sister, Rafaella, swiftly moved to deny her involvement, saying on an Instagram story: “It wasn’t me who posted those things. All lie. I don’t even have the app on my phone.”
The tweets come amid an uncertain time for Neymar’s career, with the winger currently out injured and unlikely to feature again until next season. That’ll be when he enters the final two years on his PSG contract, although reports suggests that the French champions are looking to offload his wages to meet UEFA ‘s financial regulations.
It’s claimed that Neymar earns a whopping £606,000 per week, making him one of the highest-paid players in world football. His salary is close to that of team-mates Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi, who PSG are more keen to keep as the summer transfer window approaches.
Neymar was also subjected to heartache at the recent World Cup in Qatar, as his nation were knocked out by Croatia in the quarter-finals which could spell the end of his international career amid talk that he may retire from Brazil duty. Fans were stunned that Neymar didn’t take a penalty in the deciding shootout, with the result decided before he had the chance to score from the spot.
“I am psychologically destroyed,” Neymar admitted in an Instagram post following the defeat. “It is definitely the defeat which has hurt me the most, which left me paralysed for 10 minutes after the match, after which I burst into tears without being able to stop. It is going to hurt for a very long time, unfortunately.”
Brazil had been among the favourites going into the tournament, widely believed to be Neymar’s last opportunity to win a World Cup. The 30-year-old was this month snubbed in the running to be the team’s new captain, with Manchester United midfielder Casemiro given the responsibility.
