The Hulk’s son, Skaar, makes a dramatic return before setting off on a new mission in the first issues of Marvel’s Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker series.
The following contains spoilers for Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker #1, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
Hulk’s son Skaar, who also recently made their live-action debut in the series finale of She-Hulk, returns to find his missing father in Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker #1.
Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker #1 comes from writer Greg Pak, penciler Manuel Garcia, inker Cam Smith, colorist Chris Sotomayor, artist Ramón F. Bachs and letterer VC’s Joe Caramagna. The issue follows the events of “Planet Hulk,” a 2006 storyline written by Pak which saw the Hulk be sent to the alien planet Sakaar. While he began his time on Sakaar as a slave forced to fight in deadly gladiator fights, he eventually becomes the planet’s ruler before he returns to Earth, which then marks the beginning of the “World War Hulk” crossover.

While most of Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker #1 takes place on Sakaar one millennial after “Planet Hulk,” the end of the issue jumps to New Mexico and brings back Skaar, the son of Hulk and Caiera, another character from “Planet Hulk.” Skaar is searching for his father when he runs into She-Hulk/Jennifer Walters. “I heard you’d teamed up with Gamma Flight,” She-Hulk says in reference to the 2021 Gamma Flight miniseries. “I figured I should come find you.” When Skaar brings up that he’s trying to find Hulk, Jennifer say she’s heard he’s “off-planet at the moment.”
Skaar Is Still Figuring Out Where He Belongs
Jennifer offers to help Skaar build a spaceship so he can travel to Sakaar; however, the conversation is cut short when a Sakaaran alien emerges nearby. Skaar frees the creature from a bear trap only to then be cornered by a group of soldiers who introduce themselves as the Bureau of Alien Neutralization (B.A.N.). and want to “protect the planet from invasive species.” Skaar responds, “Invasive species…You mean…like me?” He proceeds to hulk out and takes out the soldiers.

Upon further investigation, She-Hulk finds the soldiers are out of their jurisdiction but will likely be returning sometime soon. “You’re just a kid,” she tells her nephew. “None of this is your fault. But maybe we really should fire up that starship. Find a place where you can grow up in peace.” Despite not being sure where he belongs, Skaar makes it clear he doesn’t want to go back to Sakaar. Instead, he frees the alien creature and sets off on a new path.
