MU was strongly advised to eliminate 12 players in the summer transfer, including the expensive but not cut-off contract, Antony.
Erik ten Hag brought a drastic change to MU in the first season when the team is currently 3rd in the Premier League and has the opportunity to reap more glory in the FA Cup (meet Brighton in the semi-finals) and Europa League (against Brighton). Sevilla in the quarter-finals) after winning the League Cup last month.
However, to be able to race for the fierce Premier League championship, Erik ten Hag still needs some more signings in the summer market to increase the power of the Red Devils.
According to former MU player, Paul Parker, while waiting to bring in new people, Erik ten Hag should liquidate 12 names, including the expensive new contract that arrived last year, Antony.
“I would say, 10 players in the current MU squad need to leave Old Trafford this summer: Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, McTominay, Van de Beek, Elanga, Wout Weghorst, Martial, Jadon Sancho and Antony. In addition, there are names like Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, … who have no future at the club.”
Paul Parker elaborated on Antony’s case: “I can understand why Erik ten Hag brought Antony to MU. He knows him well and can trust the player he worked with at Ajax.
But I don’t see Antony having the opportunity to occupy a regular starting position at MU. I think there are many better players out there than Antony. I don’t believe he will prove to be worth the money the Red Devils spend.
United need a stable player, but Antony doesn’t have that.”
MU signed Antony from Ajax for about 85 million pounds, but could not shine as expected. The Brazilian star has only scored 6 goals, no assists after 30 appearances in all fields for the Red Devils.
For Lindelof, he should leave MU, but according to Paul Parker, it is not because of expertise: “Lindelof is a great player and he deserves to play every week. But that’s not going to happen at Old Trafford, because Erik ten Hag doesn’t seem to like him.”
