The NCAA Women’s Basketball Champions were crowned tonight after the Louisville State University Tigers overcame the Iowa Hawkeyes in one of the most exciting NCAAW Finals matchups in years.
Angel Reese of LSU was the star of the night, stealing the shine Iowa’s Caitlin Clark had been receiving. Reese has been heavily criticized for her showboating during the win over Iowa, and LeBron James has come out in her support.
The double standards between media treatment of Reese and Clark are very obvious and James has been retweeting tweets from the likes of Emmanuel Acho and David Aldridge to illustrate the point further.
Reese’s celebration during the game saw her copy Caitlin Clark’s celebration from her Final Four win which saw her do the ‘you can’t see me’ gesture after a sensational performance. It was considered a great moment when Clark did it but has been called classless now that Reese did it at Clark’s expense.
The LSU vs. Iowa game ended 85-102 in LSU’s favor. Caitlin Clark had one of the greatest tournament runs of all time, showing she’s going to be an offensive juggernaut once she graduates to the NBA. Angel Reese dropped a clutch 15 points and 10 rebounds to bring the title home to LSU, despite Clark’s sensational 30-point performance,
LeBron James Focusing On A Playoff Push
The Women’s NCAA Finals were arguably the biggest basketball game on tonight, even with James and his Lakers playing (and winning) against the Houston Rockets. Even after tying Jason Kidd for the fourth most triple-doubles in NBA history, James took the time to share his support with Reese, who has been receiving a lot of hate after LSU’s big win.
James is locked in on the court, working his way back from a severe foot injury while playing under 30 minutes for the Lakers. Anthony Davis has stepped up with LeBron taking a secondary role, helping the Lakers improve their record to 40-38, only half a game being the 5th seed. With 4 games left in the season, the Lakers will hope to win out and ensure they have a guaranteed playoff seed.
