Harry Kane has been branded an “embarrassment” by angry Everton fans after he was involved in an incident which resulted in Abdoulaye Doucoure being shown a straight red in
Monday’s Premier League match at Goodison Park.
Tottenham striker Kane and Everton midfielder Doucoure clashed midway through the second half, with the match goalless and both sides struggling to find a way to break the deadlock.
After Kane fouled Demarai Gray in the middle of the pitch, he the collided with Doucoure with both player swinging wildly at the ball.
Kane grabbed Doucoure’s shirt – prompting an angry reaction from the Everton player, who then pushed the Tottenham man in the face.
Kane collapsed to the pitch, with Doucoure shown a straight red card by referee David Coote for his moment of madness.
Both sets of players then clashed with the two benches also clearing in ugly scenes.
When the dust had settled, Kane was shown a yellow card for his role in the melee.
To make matters worse for Everton, Tottenham took full advantage of their extra man – taking the lead from the penalty spot just minutes later.
After Cristian Romero has been fouled in the box, Kane stepped up to score his 22nd Premier League goal of the season.
Everton fans on social media were furious with the England captain’s behaviour, accusing him overreacting to Doucoure’s push.

“Doucoure is an idiot, and Kane deserves an Oscar,” posted one fan on Twitter.
“Kane should be ashamed going down like that. Disgraceful from the England captain,” added another.
While a third wrote: “Harry Kane is an absolute embarrassment.”
Tottenham were reduced to 10 men themselves later in the game when substitute Lucas Moura was shown a straight red card for a horrible challenge on Michael Keane.
Thankfully, the Everton defender avoided serious injury and was able to continue playing.
And just minutes later he produced a remarkable strike to level the scores for Everton with a thunderbolt from 25 yards out, with match ending 1-1.
