Klopp: I’m lucky I haven’t been sacked

In a Premier League season that saw a record number of managers sacked, Liverpool have not yet fired Jurgen Klopp despite the club going through a series of disappointing performances.

Klopp’s Liverpool have played badly this season after many successes in the past.

In the press conference before the match against Chelsea in the 8th round of the Premier League on the morning of April 5, coach Klopp shared the reason why he is still at Liverpool: “I understand that I am still here because of my achievements. my past with the club, not because of the team’s performance this season. Had this been my first season at Liverpool, I would have been sacked a long time ago.”

“But don’t get me wrong, I’m not worried about being sacked. I’m here to bring success to the club and I’m always focused on that. I’m disappointed this season but we will try to overcome this challenge,” the German strategist added.

When asked about his feelings when watching 12 managers lose their jobs in the Premier League this season (a record in a single season of this tournament – PV), Klopp exclaimed: “I am lucky to still be around. I feel sorry that many of my colleagues have lost their jobs, but that’s part of football.”

Over the weekend, Leicester City and Chelsea fired coaches Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter respectively. This happened after round 29 of the Premier League when the “Fox” lost to Crystal Palace 1-2, and “The Blues” received a 0-2 defeat against Aston Villa.

Before that, Antonio Conte ( Tottenham Hotspur), Patrick Vieira (Crystal Palace), Jesse Marsch (Leeds), Frank Lampard ( Everton ), Ralph Hasenhuttl and Nathan Jones ( Southampton ), Steven Gerrard (Aston Villa), Bruno Lage (Wolves) , Thomas Tuchel (Chelsea) and Scott Parker (Bournemouth) are the captains who have been fired this season.

Coach Klopp joined Liverpool in 2015. During his time here, the 55-year-old strategist helped “The Kop” win the throne once in all possible competitions including Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup , Carabao Cup, Community Shield, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

However, in the 2022/23 season, Liverpool performed poorly with only 42 points after 27 matches played in the Premier League. The Anfield team is currently only ranked 8th in the highest division in England, and is excluded from all other cup competitions.

On April 1, Klopp’s army lost to Manchester City with a score of 1-4 in the 29th round of the Premier League. Tomorrow morning (April 4), Liverpool will face Chelsea in the 8th round of the Premier League match. The “Red Brigade” needs a victory to raise its ambition to attend the European Cup next season.
