Why The Lamborghini Revuelto Hybrid Supercar Is Priced Astonishingly

Even the wealthiest car enthusiasts will have to wait a while and pay a pretty penny to get their hands on the all-new Lamborghini Revuelto supercar.

Lamborghini just unveiled its long-awaited flagship V-12 hybrid supercar. The 2024 Revuelto replaces the Lamborghini Aventador as the Italian carmaker’s V12 flagship model. However, buyers will have to wait a while and pay a pretty penny to Lamborghini before they get behind the wheel of the supercar.

This is because of the insane production costs involved, along with utilizing the latest bleeding-edge technology in the supercar world. And this has not been cheap for Lamborghini to create its wicked hybrid supercar. The Revuelto is expected to be pricier than its arch-rival – the Ferrari SF90 Stradale.

Lamborghini has yet to release the starting price of the Revuelto. However, automotive experts estimated it will be well above the $507,000 price tag of the Aventador – the flagship V12 the Revuelto is replacing.

Matt Watson from Carwow estimates the Revuelto could start at around $550,000, which is around $20,000 more than the starting price of its direct competitor, the V8 hybrid Ferrari SF90.

The price tag is justifiable as Lamborghini designed and built the Revuelto to replace the Lamborghini Aventador, most likely one of the last pure V12-powered supercars Lamborghini will make. Lamborghini also packed much more tech into the new hybrid flagship.

“It is a unique and innovative car but at the same time faithful to our DNA: the V12 is an iconic symbol of our super sports heritage and history. Revuelto was born to break the mold, combining a new 12-cylinder engine with hybrid technology, creating the perfect balance between delivering the emotion that our clients want with the necessity to reduce emissions,” said Winkelmann.

The Revuelto’s V12 combined with its 3 electric motors, produce 1,001 hp, which gives the car a top speed of over 200 mph.

Due to the additional weight of the 3 electric motors and battery packs, Lamborghini took extreme weight-saving and performance-enhancing measures.

The Revuelto’s carbon fiber ‘monofuselage’ chassis weighs 10 percent less than the Aventador’s chassis but gives it 25 percent more torsional stiffness. Its V12 engine is also 37 lbs lighter than the engine of the Aventador.

The new flagship also boasts a better and comfier interior than the Aventador, with more headroom, more legroom, larger storage spaces, and a better infotainment system.

While the Revuelto is not a limited-production model, it is Lamborghini’s new flagship hybrid electric-powered supercar. The new flagship V12 hybrid generated significant demand among car enthusiasts and loyal Lamborghini buyers worldwide, even a few years before the official launch of the vehicle.

The Lamborghini CEO revealed to the media that the Revuelto has an order list that spans more than two years. “We already have a high demand… If you put all the orders in we are seeing today, we are already exceeding two years of ordering,” said Winkelmann.

Road and Track reported that the CEO confirmed the Revuelto’s extensive waitlist at a separate event earlier in March 2023. “We are going to open up the [order] system at the end of March or the beginning of April when we are officially going to present the car… Then over the next month, all of the orders will be put in. But today it is already clear we are exceeding two years,” he added.

The Lamborghini CEO also revealed that many buyers placed their orders before the Italian supercar manufacturer released any details about the Revuelto.

Before the car’s launch in March 2023, only a few details about the vehicle were available. Varryx and HotCars spotted and exclusively published a few photos of the Revuelto prototype driving around in disguise in 2022.

Lamborghini Revuelto: Named After A Fierce Bull Or A Breakfast Dish?!Front quarter view of the 2024 Lamborghini RevueltoLamborghini

Lamborghini dubbed the new V12 hybrid as the world’s first high-performance electrified vehicle (HPEV), but more importantly, it named it after a Spanish fighting bull. Media reported that the legendary Italian supercar manufacturer got the Revuelto name from a fierce bull that fought in Barcelona arenas in the 1800s.

Lamborghini has a long history of naming its supercars after famous fighting bulls, legendary bullfighting names, and bull breeds. Its founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini, found interest in fighting bulls after spending time with Spanish bull breeder Don Eduardo Miura. His interest translated into the famous raging bull on the supercar maker’s logo.

The Italian supercar maker named Its first mid-engined V12 supercar, the 1966 Lamborghini Miura, after the Miura fighting bulls. Other well-known Lamborghinis like the Murcielago and the Aventador, the Revuelto’s predecessor, was also named after famous fighting bulls.

However, many found the Revuelto name slightly humorous as it has a different meaning in the Spanish language. Car enthusiasts pointed out on social media that in Spanish, Revuelto is commonly used to refer to scrambled eggs and translates into scrambled in English.

In an interview with Car Sales, Winkelmann acknowledged the name’s meaning in Spanish and offered his take on the situation.

“In the modern vernacular, Revuelto means ‘scrambled eggs’, but Revuelto also means ‘mixed up’ in English, and this is the best way of explaining it, with the blending of the two souls of this car,” Winkelmann said, referring to the car’s hybrid V12 powertrain.
