During their latest throwdown, Marvel casually confirmed whether the Juggernaut or the Hulk is really the strongest powerhouse in the Marvel Universe.
The boisterous former X-Men villain Juggernaut (aka Cain Marko) has always claimed to be virtually unstoppable. However, the Hulk has traditionally been one of the few people capable of standing up to him, with the pair coming to blows many times over the years. In Juggernaut #2 (by Fabian Nicieza and Ron Garney), the titular Marvel heavyweight clashed with the Green Goliath once more to determine who really is the strongest between them.
Juggernaut previously fought against Hulk during Peter David’s ’90s run, and the pair later had a rematch during World War Hulk. However, Juggernaut #2 saw Cain Marko take on the Devil version of the Jade Giant most recently seen in Immortal Hulk. This is a version of the character who doesn’t hold back and isn’t afraid to resort to brutal tactics. During the fight, the Juggernaut has a surprisingly humble moment in which he admits that he’s just not as strong as the Hulk. But against all odds, the reformed villain still managed to scrape out a victory.
Juggernaut was Barely Able to Defeat the Hulk
During their fight, the Immortal Hulk was able to casually and effortlessly throw Juggernaut around like a ragdoll. Eventually the former villain’s newest ally (a mutant named D-Cell) stepped in to help, using her powers to control the Hulk’s momentum and drastically slow down his movements. Unable to hold the Hulk in place, D-Cell commented that the Green Goliath was far stronger than the Juggernaut, a fact that Marko himself agreed with.
By showing humility, Juggernaut proved that he was trying to move away from his destructive tendencies in favor of becoming a better person. Although Juggernaut ended up winning their confrontation, his victory was largely due to the help of D-Cell and Damage Control’s gamma-siphoning technology as opposed to his raw strength.

The Hulk’s Power Completely Outmatches Juggernaut
Juggernaut #2 demonstrated that there’s very little the eponymous character can do to actually hurt the Hulk, save knocking him down when he’s defenseless and locking him into a cage – that the Hulk later easily escaped. There’s no denying the Juggernaut’s inherent strength, although it’s somewhat rewarding to see the debate over the strength levels of the two finally settled.
Even while engaged in battle, the Juggernaut reached a point where he had to admit that the Hulk is stronger than he is. This means he’ll have to be clever and crafty to defeat him in the future, and his team-up with D-Cell and Damage Control proves that with the right team their difference in strength can be negated.
