The couple, who attended the Grammys earlier this year, opted to skip this year’s Oscars.
The 95th annual Academy Awards have come and gone, with plenty of stars looking glowing on this year’s not-so-red carpet.
However, two stars who weren’t in attendance at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday night were Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck.
Why Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck weren’t at the 2023 Oscars
After making their debut as a couple at the Grammy Awards earlier this year, both Lopez and Affleck opted not to attend the 2023 Oscars.
The couple made headlines at the Grammys thanks to Affleck, who looked less than thrilled to be at the event. His gloomy look went viral on social media and fans speculated on why the 50-year-old looked so unhappy, with Lopez herself even getting in on the fun.
While neither were nominated for an Oscar this year, fans are still wondering why neither made an appearance at the glamorous Hollywood event.
Although there is no official reason why the couple decided to stay home, they have been busy with various projects recently.
Lopez recently revealed that she is busy preparing a new studio album, ‘This Is Me…Now’, which is expected to be released in the summer of 2023. The album will be Lopez’s ninth-studio album, which was inspired by her love for Affleck after the two rekindled their romance.
As for Affleck, he is gearing up for the release of his new film, ‘Air’. Affleck directs and stars in the biographical sports drama, which is set for release on April 5, 2023. The film also stars other big names like Matt Damon, Jason Bateman, Chris Messina, Marlon Wayans, Chris tucker and Viola Davis.
Not to mention the couple have been house hunting in recent times.
Tom Cruise also wasn’t in attendance
Lopez and Affleck weren’t the only big names not to attend the Oscars on Sunday night.
Tom Cruise skipped the event and returned to the U.K. to resume work on ‘Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part Two’.
The 60-year-old wasn’t nominated for any individual honors at the awards, though the movie he starred in, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, was up for six awards, winning Best Sound.
