Britney Spears’ son revealed why he didn’t attend his mother’s wedding to Sam Asghari and their relationship with the singer in an interview with The Daily Mail.
In an interview airing on ITV on September 2, Jayden James, 9, explained how he and his brother Sean Preston, 15, came to the decision not to attend Britney Spears’ wedding in June 16.

Jayden appeared in an interview with his father, Kevin Federline, stating: “Weddings are not a good time. I’m not saying I’m unhappy with my mother. I was really happy for them, but Mom didn’t invite the whole family. Then my mom just invited me and Preston to the wedding, so I didn’t think it was good.”
Singer Britney Spears (40) continues to be estranged from family members including her parents – Jamie and Lynne Spears – and siblings Jamie Lynn, Bryan…
Jayden also spoke about conflicts between the pop star and her family, especially with her father. “At first, my grandfather, like any father, was always trying to help my daughter pursue her dream of becoming a superstar. But I thought maybe the custody lasted too long so she was very angry about it. Mom worked too much. I think she should have rested and relaxed,” Jayden said.
Jayden then went on to say his grandfather “didn’t deserve all the hatred he was getting,” and despite Britney’s claims, he didn’t see the Spears family “manipulating” his mother.
“No one in the family is a bad person. They know what we are going through and want our future to be good. They just wanted to watch over us. Grandma and Uncle Bryan were a good part of our lives. They taught me how to deal with things,” Jayden admitted.

Hours after the interview was posted, Britney Spears responded in an Instagram post where she sent her son “all the love in the world for you every day for the rest of my life!”
“My love for my children knows no boundaries and I am deeply saddened to learn of my son’s outcry from saying that I did not live up to his expectations as a mother… Maybe one day we’ll meet face-to-face and talk publicly,” Britney Spears wrote.
Going on to explain how hard the singer worked and what she had to endure to give her children everything they had, Britney added: “It’s horrible to see Jayden and Sean’s dad as a hypocrite. The media is evil in exploiting personal problems with my children!”
Britney then urged her son: “Look in the mirror and remember, you are my child and always will be.”
“Keep playing the piano… You and your brother are both brilliant and I’m so proud to call you my kids,” the pop star further wrote before noting that her sons don’t understand her feelings, mental health and the guardianship she once suffered.
Britney further stated that if her son disagrees with what she says about family through guardianship: “Well, yes, I’ve failed as a mother.”
The day before Spears’ June 10 wedding to Asghari, Mark Vincent Kaplan, Federline’s longtime lawyer, confirmed to People that their two sons would not be at the wedding.
“They’re happy for their mom, hopeful that Sam Asghari and Britney Spears are starting a great future together. It’s a happy night for you two and you don’t want to take that happiness away from them,” attorney Vincent Kaplan said.
