By Shubhi Mishra: A couple from Michigan, US were simply ecstatic when they welcomed their daughter Audrey into the world in March. Carolyn and Andrew Clark became parents for the second time to a girl named Audrey. Moreover, the baby girl broke a 138-year streak of boys in Andrew’s family. Yes, you read that right.
Andrew’s family had not seen a baby girl in their direct lineage since 1885, which surprised Carolyn when she first heard about it from her husband over a decade ago. Despite experiencing two miscarriages before Audrey’s arrival, the couple remained hopeful and prayed for a healthy pregnancy and baby. “What do you mean?” Carolyn recalls asking Andrew after they began dating more than a decade ago. “He said, ‘No, legitimately, we have not had a girl in our direct line in over 100 years.”
While speaking to Good Morning America, Carolyn also mentioned that Andrew’s parents confirmed the news. The couple already has a son named Cameron who is 4-years-old. After the two miscarriages when Carolyn was pregnant again, the couple didn’t care if it was a boy or a girl. “We were just thankful to be pregnant and just praying for a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby,” she told Good Morning America.
At a party with family and friends, the couple and their loved ones learned that they were having a girl when they took a bite out of special cookies with pink frosting in the center. Everyone was overjoyed, as the Clarks had kept the news a secret from even themselves. “Everyone was just screaming and jumping in disbelief,” Carolyn told WZZM 13 according to a report in People.
Naming their baby girl proved to be a challenge for the couple, who had only thought of boy names in the past. However, they ultimately chose the name Audrey. Well, the baby girl was born on March 17, St. Patrick’s Day.
Carolyn expressed her happiness and gratitude for Audrey’s arrival, saying that her daughter was worth the wait and all the struggles they had faced. Breaking the family’s long streak of boys was just the icing on the cake for the couple
