Kevin Durant, currently playing for the Phoenix Suns, has had a rough childhood at the beginning with the absence of his father. Born on September 29, 1988, to parents Wanda Durant and Wayne Pratt, Kevin’s father left off his family when Kevin was a year old.
This eventually led to their divorce, leaving Kevin’s mother to raise him and his brother Tony all alone by herself. However, it was his grandmother Barbara Davis who came to the rescue and helped her daughter to raise her sons.

Being married off at an early age in 1986, Wanda and Wayne’s relationship lasted not more than three years. Besides having Kevin and Tony the two have 2 other children, a daughter named Brianna, and a son Rayvonne. Wanda’s separation from her husband and the support of her mother made her strong enough to carry forward her life with her children.

However, Wayne Pratt made a comeback to his son’s life when KD was 13 years old. Despite his absence in his son’s life, the two reunited. It was after 10 years when Pratt came back to terms with his children including his ex-wife.
He also provided his help in Kevin’s NBA career. KD also took advice from his father before taking any decision. It was why he left the Thunders and joined the Warriors in 2016 by taking his advice. The advice, however, benefitted him in his career.
What do Wayne Pratt and Wanda Durant do?
Wanda Durant was just a single mother who played a big role in shaping Kevin Durant’s basketball career, an NBA star of today. However, to raise and provide for her children, Wanda worked as a federal worker for over 20 years.
The inspirational mother is now the Founder and CEO of the “Hope, Dream, Believe, and Achieve (HDBA)” foundation. Besides this, she is currently an entrepreneur and philanthropist.

It was in the 2014 NBA MVP press conference when Kevin referred to his mom as ‘The Real MVP’ that made her a celebrity mom today.
Wanda’s husband Wayne on the other hand worked as a police officer and an assistant basketball coach. After his return to his son’s life, he helped a great deal with his career. The two were often seen in courts practicing together and makes his presence known during his son’s matches.
