For the past three or four seasons, Damian Lillard has been the subject of many trade rumors around the NBA. The Portland Trail Blazers’ inability to put together a competitive team has affected the player’s chances to win a championship, and many teams are waiting to see if they have a chance to land Lillard.
In recent hours, one NBA executive claimed that the San Antonio Spurs could help the Nets get Lillard in Brooklyn while getting Ben Simmons in return.
“I have heard that the Spurs have an interest in Simmons, and they could be a third team in a deal, but you would have to give them picks to get that done, and that won’t be easy,” the executive said to Sean Deveney of Heavy. “But the Spurs could be a third team to make a Simmons- [Damian] Lillard deal work.”
This is interesting to know, given that the Spurs are going through a rebuilding process. They could end up landing Victor Wembanyama in the upcoming NBA Draft to start a new era. Perhaps that’s the situation Simmons needs to be in, as he seems like he could use a fresh start.
It’s unclear if the Nets and Portland Trail Blazers can give the Spurs as many picks as they’d want, but this could be a good move for every team involved.
Damian Lillard Spotted At A Nets Game And Partying With Mikal Bridges
All this buzz started after Lillard was spotted at Game 3 of the Philadelphia 76ers vs. Brooklyn Nets series. Dame has been linked with the Sixers, who could lose James Harden this offseason and could have Lillard on their radar already.
Moreover, he was spotted dancing with Mikal Bridges, one of the best players on the Nets. This could be a hint of Lillard’s plans if the Blazers fail to get a championship once again. He’s stated he’ll give it another run with his first and only team in the NBA, but if they can’t win, Lillard will have to make a decision. What’s next for Dame’s career? Only time will tell.
