LeBron James came up big when his team needed him the most yet again, in Game 4 of their first-round series against the Memphis Grizzlies.
James had the first 20-point, 20-rebound game of his playoff career to lead the Lakers to victory and when he made his way to the locker room afterward, his teammates greeted him with goat noises.
This has become somewhat of a theme now, with his teammates starting to do this earlier this month when they made goat noises during his postgame interview. They were at it again after LeBron’s clutch game-winning performance against the Utah Jazz and this latest performance certainly merited goat noises too.
With the Lakers trailing 104-102 with 6.1 seconds remaining, James tied the game with a contested layup to send it to overtime. He then all but sealed the game for the Lakers in overtime by putting them up 113-108 with less than 30 seconds remaining. It certainly wasn’t the greatest offensive game of his career by any means, but James still finished with 22 points, 20 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 blocks to ensure that the Lakers got the win.
Lonnie Walker Spoke About Why The Lakers Have Been Making Goat Noises
Lonnie Walker was among those making the goat noises here and he explained recently that the Lakers players truly believe LeBron is the GOAT. Walker stated that a lot of the players have grown up seeing James as one of the greatest to ever do it and they just want to give him his flowers now.
LeBron now has the Lakers just one win away from the Western Conference Semifinals after they took a 3-1 lead here. You would have been hard-pressed to find anyone who would have believed that this team would be in this position when they started the season 2-10 and it has been a truly remarkable turnaround.
