Gigi Hadid is known for being an always-on-trend model and has now revealed her ultimate fashion tips that will amp up any outfit and leave you ready for the runway.
In a new video interview with Vogue, the 27-year-old went through a week’s worth of her own outfits, detailing exactly how she puts together the perfect ensemble for any occasion – be it taking her daughter Khai for a walk or strutting her way out of a show at New York Fashion Week.
While Gigi confessed that comfort is key when it comes to building her looks, she noted that there are several techniques she uses to ensure that all of her outfits are camera-ready.
In her ‘seven days, seven looks’ Vogue video, all of her looks had something in common – funky jewelry.
The model revealed she never leaves her home without not one, but several unique jewelry pieces that show she’s not just a model, she’s a ‘fun’ model.
Whether it’s a necklace with a rosé bottle pendant or dinosaur earrings, the fashion icon loves to layer her jewelry pieces and add a touch of something unexpected to her looks.
‘A lot of my jewelry is from small, awesome brands that I really love to just mix and match together. Mix your jewels high and low,’ she said.
‘It’s weird but I love it,’ she said of her quirky jewelry obsession as she paired her everyday look – which included a pink T-shirt and jeans – with one dinosaur earring and one lemon slice.
Even when wearing an ensemble fit for the office – which included neutral shades and leather touches – Gigi opted for a black and white dice earring to complete her look.
Whether you’re into fruit earrings or would rather opt for something a little less sour, the runway star noted that if food accessories aren’t really your style, you can grab your favorite color-beaded necklace and throw it onto any outfit to level up your style.
While you may want to keep it neutral this season, if you’re trying to channel your inner model, you’ll need to think outside of the box.
Keeping it funky, Gigi always reaches for vibrant colors to give her outfit and her mood a boost.
From polka dot trench coats to hot pink tees, the model and mom proved nothing was ever ever too ‘weird’ for her closet.
Even on her days in the office, she’ll sport a bright-colored purse to make the outfit feel like her.
‘I just like to make [my style] a little bit funky, so it feels like me,’ she said.
Gigi is known for sporting bright pieces that truly make a statement.
In an interview with People, she noted that your statement pieces should ‘inspire’ or ‘spark something in whoever is checking out your outfit.’
And although experimenting with your wardrobe may be the last thing you want to do, the model advised you shouldn’t be afraid to get creative.
‘Sometimes people are prone to thinking they should choose one look and stick to it. But I like to explore different sides of my style, which you see a lot in my line for Tommy Hilfiger. If you embrace different inspirations, it’s just a lot more fun,’ she explained.
Adding bright shades to your wardrobe won’t only just make you feel like a mode, it’ll also enhance your mood and help you feel more cheerful.
Time to embrace your inner model with Gigi’s tips on perfecting a ‘model off duty’ look that includes elevating comfortable pieces.
The secret to looking like your strutting down the catwalk later? Keep it cozy.
To fool others into thinking your preparing for fashion month, keep your ensembles simple, yet chic.
‘I try to be a little bit chic, but I also can’t wear anything uncomfortable or tight, or that’s hard to take off. I’m changing like 10 times a day, there’s a lot going on, so you need to be cozy,’ she said while sporting a cashmere sweater vest, baggy jeans and ‘worn-in loafers.’
Gigi, who refers to herself as the ‘coziest person you know’ is always looking for ways to elevate outfits while remaining comfortable.
Whether she’s running to a fitting, going to the park with her two-year-old son Khai, or jetting off to strut down another runway, the model ‘just always needs to be comfortable.’
Her go-to cozy-chic outfits include jumpsuits and baggy jeans or tops that allow her to move around.
She revealed choosing comfortable clothing not only helps her off-duty attire, but also helps her perfect a stroller-chic look when with her son.
If you’re trying to elevate any simple looks, without sacrificing comfort, Gigi recommends adding a touch of leather, such as a leather jacket or vest, to impress even ‘Anna Wintour’.
‘I’m a fan of putting the most basic stuff under a cool piece and making it look like you tried and you always look like your trying if you’re in a black, floor-length, leather jacket,’ she added.
The model revealed she never leaves her house without a pair of shades to amp up her ensemble.
Having collaborated with Vogue eyewear to design stylish shades in 2019, it’s no surprise Gigi can’t help but to add a pair of sunglasses to every look.
‘I hoard sunglasses. I have about 300 pairs. I love trying out new shapes and switching it up. Right now I’m really into tiny retro ones, and I actually stole a lot from my mom’s collection! They make an outfit.’ she told People.
The fashion icon swears by adding a pair of shades to every outfit and often matches her sunglasses to her looks to pull together the best model off duty attire.
According to Vogue, when she isn’t sporting her own designs she can be seen in Adam Selman x Le Specs frames and cat-eyed black, red, and clear shades.
Or, as Gigi revealed in the video, she often steals her sister Bella’s Chrome Hearts sunglasses.
‘These are Chrome Hearts, I actually stole them from Bella, don’t tell anyone, just between us,’ she said as she showed off the black shades.
To pick the right shades for your ensembles, the model recommends having a variety of styles from ‘sporty’ to chic.
She then recommends adding colored sunglasses to your wardrobe so you can match them to any outfit, no matter the occasion.
If you’re looking to sport a cozy-meets glam look, Gigi advises you go for more sporty shades, but if you’re heading to work, pick a pair that’ll make a statement.
