Rawson told EW: ‘When I was working on the script, this light bulb went off in my head where I thought, “Of course the kid who was bullied in high school, who was a little overweight with acne scars, would transform himself into The Rock.”‘
In a process that took six months in post-production, Weta Digital, a visual effects company, used 3-D face scans, CG animation and performance capture to superimpose The Rock’s face onto Sione’s, according to the website.
Sione, who starred in Meghan Trainor’s All About That Bass music video, initially gained fame through his Vine.

Weta Digital was founded by The Lord Of The Rings’ director Peter Jackson as well as Jamie Selkirk and Richard Taylor; They have done special effects for films like The Avengers, The Hunger Games, Deadpool and Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
‘I didn’t want to ask Dwayne to drink a ton of milkshakes. And fat suits, no matter how good they are, always end up looking like fat suits,’ Rawson explained to EW.
The digital effects company also used CG animation to make The Rock’s face look younger for the flashback ‘because he’s supposed to be 18 during the scene,’ he added.
The Rock’s incredible physique has helped him land many action hero roles, but it doesn’t come easily.
The star, who is 6ft 4in and 270-pounds, regularly rises very early for 4am work outs and he also follows a strict daily diet plan involving seven meals, 5,165 calories and 10 pounds of food. (A man’s suggested daily intake for all foods is roughly 2,500.)
Dwayne has a five-month-old daughter Jasmine with girlfriend Lauren Hashian, and 14-year-old daughter Simone from his marriage to Dany Garcia.
He recently wrapped filming on a Baywatch movie alongside Zac Efron and has just signed on to star in a Jumanji remake.
Blast from the past: The Rock, pictured at 16, shared the photo to his Instagram last year; in the caption he said that at this age, he was already 6-foot-4-inches and 225 pounds
