“History Cold Start” – Reliving the Past as a 1921 Ford Model T Starts for the First Time in 60+ Years

It’s a scene that car enthusiasts dream of: after decades of being dormant, a classic car roars to life once again. Such was the case with a 1921 Model T Ford that started for the first time in over 60 years. Considering the length of time that the car had been sitting unused, it’s not surprising that the driver had to put in some effort to get the engine turning over. In fact, it took around 60 attempts to get the car started.

One factor that may have contributed to the difficulty in starting the Model T was the gas tank, which had been sitting on the floor for an extended period of time. However, the driver was able to solve the problem by putting their right foot under the tank.

It’s worth noting that the 1920s were a time of transition for automobiles, and the Model T Ford was no exception. While earlier versions of the car came with hand crank starters, Ford began offering electric starters as an optional feature in the early 1920s.

Despite the challenges of starting the car after so many years, the Model T Ford proved to be a reliable and sturdy vehicle once it was up and running. In fact, it’s no surprise that the car has become such an icon of American automotive history, with many collectors and enthusiasts still seeking out these classic cars today.

Of course, bringing a car like the Model T Ford back to life after so many years of inactivity requires more than just a bit of elbow grease. Restoring a classic car takes time, patience, and a deep understanding of automotive engineering and design.

For those who are passionate about classic cars, the effort is well worth it. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of driving a piece of history down the open road, with the wind in your hair and the roar of the engine in your ears.
