Kevin Hart has weighed in on rapper, actor, and filmmaker Ice Cube, explaining he’s one-of-a-kind.
During a recent conversation on Logan Paul’s impaulsive, the 43-year-old praised his Ride Along co-star for his honest-to-goodness heart.
“Cube might be one of the most genuine, kindest spirits that you can be around,” the actor-comedian began. “He wants nothing but good for other people.”
“He loves to see the people around him succeed — he’s such a creative mind. That’s all he does. He loves the foundation of creativity and is one of the most professional people I’ve worked with on set,” added the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle actor.
Meanwhile, the hosts joked that “he [Ice Cube] did not talk about you [Kevin Hart] like that. It was the complete opposite,” which Hart took in stride, alleging “Yeah, it’s gotta be the interview,” pointing to the possibility the questions asked of Cube were not “good.”
When pressed about whether his newfound friendship with the Rock changed the dynamic of his friendship with Ice Cube, Hart was quick to set the record straight.
“This is ridiculous. What are you talking about? Cube is one of my best friends in the business — everybody knows that. Everybody knows that about me and Cube,” he said laughingly.
The interview comes on the heels of Hart sitting down with yet another rap legend, Method Man. This time, drawing awareness to mental health.
On the May 4 episode of Comedy Gold Minds, which is Hart’s podcast on the SiriusXM radio network, the Wu-Tang Clan rapper discussed how seeking therapy has benefitted his life overall.
“I was my own shadow, meaning I was in my own way,” he told Hart. “I had to get out of my own way. I saw that I could not control the people around me, but I could control myself. One thing that stood out for me, when I was younger – basically being a little dirty kid with nothing, no control over where I lived, what I ate, where I slept. But I had these sports – football and lacrosse – there I had control and I was good at it.”
He continued: “So I needed those little moments where I need to be in control of what goes on in my life. I had to look myself in the mirror and say, ‘I’m tired of myself. I want better for me, I have more to contribute, and start there.’ Self-check, absolutely. If you don’t, sooner or later, somebody else is gonna check you.”
