Scarlett Johansson’s lifestyle has been defined by controversies and speculations for the better part of her glamorous, high-profile, and successful career. But there are equally as many moments that define her as a mother, a wife, and an artist who takes more joy in her work and her family than she does in any other aspect of Hollywood. As such, the joys of being a new mother then come to her naturally when talking about it and sharing her experiences with the world.

Scarlett Johansson Smuggled Cargo Into the Oscars
Hollywood has witnessed its stars and celebrities being larger than life itself with a personality and an appearance that defies the natural order of things. However, underneath all of that, it is pretty understandable when their breakfast is comprised of the leftovers left behind by their kids before they are rushed off to school in the mornings or they are seen smuggling a breast pump into the Oscars as a new mother.

Scarlett Johansson, after giving birth to her daughter, Rose Dorothy Dauriac in August 2014, was seen at the 87th Academy Awards as a presenter in February 2015. However, it is not her experience as a showstopper in the emerald Atelier Versace that the actress wanted to talk about. Rather, it was her troubles and tribulations as a new mother that went on the pages of Marie Claire for her March cover interview with the magazine.
“I had to bring my breast pump, because I was nursing and every ounce is like liquid gold.”
Two years later, the actress split up with her then-husband, the French journalist, Romain Dauriac. She later went on to marry SNL host, Colin Jost in 2020. They welcomed their first boy together, Cosmo Jost, in August 2021.
Scarlett Johansson Loves Being a Mother
Ever since the arrival of her daughter, Rose, in 2014, life has seemingly altered in unimaginable ways for the two-time Oscar-nominated actress. Over the past decade, Johansson has shared her deepest thoughts and vocal opinions about motherhood and all the euphoric realizations that come with it. In 2014, she spoke about how “very, very magical — and exhausting” it can be while in 2015, the actress talked about motherhood “hopefully enrich my work, as well as my understanding of myself.”

As her split with then-husband Romain Dauriac drew closer, the Marvel star opened up about the struggles of motherhood that are equally as abundant and prevalent as the joys that come with it. In 2017, Scarlett Johansson revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight about managing the guilt of having to balance work and paying full attention to her daughter. Later, she got brutally honest about being a single parent after winning the custody battle against Dauriac after their January split. In 2019, she spoke to USA Today about her struggles, saying:
“I felt in the past – there’s such a loneliness to being a single parent. Obviously, it’s a lot of different things at once, but there can be a loneliness and this constant feeling of doubt, that you don’t know what the hell you’re doing and you don’t have anyone else to bounce it off of.
You maybe have doubts about your life: ‘How did I get here?’ It’s not all the time… but those moments creep in, and they creep in at weird times.”
Soon after her divorce from Romain Dauriac, Johansson began dating Colin Jost in May 2017. The couple married 3 years later and the actress hilariously claimed that her 9-year-old is “obsessed” with her stepfather but couldn’t be more indifferent to the newly-arrived addition to the family, her sibling Cosmo.
