Tom Cruise comes with a litany of near-death experiences due to his determination of performing his stunts all by himself. Filling his movies with nail-biting action scenes, Cruise famously demanded to perform a perilous stunt in his 2004 movie Collateral. Playing the role of Vincent, the assassin on his deadly mission, Cruise is accompanied by his co-star Jamie Foxx who plays the role of Max, the cab driver.

While shooting Collateral, the 60-year-old requested to perform a major stunt along with Jamie Foxx. Although Tom Cruise gets the thrill of performing dangerous stunts, his co-stars aren’t always eager. Recalling the car crash scene in Collateral, Foxx mentioned how the Mission Impossible star almost met his maker after the unintentional accident. “I hit the gas, the cab goes straight head-on into [Cruise’s] Mercedes and the Mercedes lifts off the ground and goes off the set” Foxx shared.

Realizing in the flick of seconds, Jamie Foxx and the entire crew thought the Ray actor killed his toothy co-star. Although this wasn’t Cruise’s first near-death experience while filming, it almost did scare the life out of everyone on set.

Recalling the panic and rush on set after the accident, Jamie Foxx shared the aftermath. Tom Cruise mentioned, “I was hitting the roof” of the car, while Foxx recalled being “down on the ground”. Witnessing a terrifying accident as such, Cruise’s 55-year-old co-star narrated the entire event.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Foxx recalled how Cruise was saved first because he was the bigger star. After making sure that Tom Cruise was fine, only then the crew approached the 55-year-old, to rescue him. “They were so worried that I had killed my man” Foxx mentioned. Joking about the possibility of Cruise’s fatal damage, the 55-year-old actor stated, “Can you imagine all that money bouncing around in the back seat?”

However, the fatality was avoided while filming and none of the actors were gravely injured. But, Jamie Foxx was indeed amused by the attention received by Tom Cruise for being the bigger star.
