Fox Entertainment has announced that they will be releasing a new special investigating Britney Spears’ life after her 13-year-long conservatorship ended in 2021.
The special, titled ‘TMZ Investigates: Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom’, will reportedly give viewers an inside look at her marriage, her relationship with her family, and her continuing influence in the music industry.
The documentary comes out as Britney Spears wraps up writing her memoir.
Britney Spears is not a fan of documentaries
Spears has previously spoken up about how much she dislikes documentaries made about her, especially those that focus on her conservatorship, which began in 2008.
Last year, Spears shared in now-deleted tweets how humiliating she found documentaries to be.
“I want to thank the head people who did all the documentaries to help free Brit Brit !!! I mean such classy footage,” she wrote sarcastically.
“The best part to me was when my old assistant talked about how I went through the neighborhood passing out 100 dollar bills when my first song came out !!! I wish I could go inside the heads of people like my dad and her and really try to understand why people lie and make up such things like that !!!”
She called out those who made “the trashiest docs I’ve ever seen in my life,” and said there was “deception in claiming it was to help me !!!”
She added: “I am a person … I’m not a robot or a science experiment like they analyzed me in that place !!! I’m a valued soul … so for the documentaries that were done on me, they were trash and nothing more than trash … period !!!”
She continued by adding that the people in the documentaries could have done more to help her, but chose not to.
“Every person who sat there in those docs knew or if THEY DIDN’T KNOW could have found out where they were keeping me !!!!! They KNEW and it’s time to realize that it was THEN I needed REAL people to go to the cops and ‘Jesus Christ what is going on ???? Aren’t there labor laws ??? The girl has been working like a dog !!!’”
While Spears was in her conservatorship, FX and Hulu released ‘Controlling Britney Spears’, while New York Times released ‘Framing Britney Spears’ and Netflix released ‘Britney vs Spears’.
