The Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics are going through similar situations right now, on the brink of elimination from the 2023 NBA Playoffs. They have endured difficult moments during the season, and after losing three times in the second round, nothing has changed.
Jordan Poole and Jaylen Brown aren’t going through the best moment on their respective teams, and one NBA analyst believes the Warriors and Celtics should swap them.
“Win or lose, I think the Celtics have to make a move. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum don’t necessarily work, because Brown’s got more alpha, but Tatum is the better player. But if you brought Jordan Poole and Wiggins in, Tatum would be clearly the best player. He would have a wing defensive specialist, Wiggins would take some of the pressure off. Poole is not nearly the defender Jaylen Brown is, but he’s got a lot of alpha, he’s clearly not as good as Tatum. You wouldn’t have that issue about ‘is it a Tatum’s team, or a Brown’s team?’ It would be Tatum’s team with more defensive help and some offense with Wiggins on the wing.
“Now, you’ll be losing Jaylen Brown to the Warriors. The Warriors get Jaylen Brown and Malcolm Brogdon off the bench, so you get great bench scoring, and you get a much better player defensively next to Steph [Curry] so you wouldn’t have to rely on Gary Payton II this much. Because Steph, there are some limitations on what he can do defensively. Also Jaylen Brown, very smart, is the kind of player the Warriors love.”
This is an interesting idea from Cowherd, and seeing his explanation, it is a win-win trade. The Warriors and Celtics played in the Finals last season, but this one things haven’t been as smooth as before for them.
Depending on how this season ends for each team, we could be talking about this potential trade more and more.
Jaylen Brown And Jordan Poole Have Been Mentioned In Trade Rumors Recently
Another thing these two players have in common is the constant trade rumors involving them. Brown has been linked with a reunion with Ime Udoka on the Houston Rockets, although he’s made it clear he won’t leave Jayson Tatum. But if the C’s fail to at least make it to the next round this season, perhaps Brown could exit the team.
As for Poole, many people have urged the Warriors to move him away and try to get as much as they can for a player whose level has decreased a lot this season. He’s not the same baller he was last season and the Warriors are actually hurting from that. This offseason could bring big changes for these two teams, but we have to sit and wait.
