Brooke Shields and Tom Cruise’s story was made very public as of late and it has brought awareness to various matters. The actress opened up about her entire life and her revelation of how it was after she had her first child. Her postpartum depression came to light and mothers throughout the world were acknowledging the actress for bringing into light a matter that is not talked about very often.

Brooke Shields and Tom Cruise had an unfortunate falling out during her postpartum stages. The depression she faced because of it was difficult to endure and she had to rely on therapy as well as medicines. She openly talked about her journey and how it was driving her crazy when she could not connect with her daughter initially after her birth. Tom Cruise had been all but kind to her.

“I feel compelled to speak not just for myself but also for the hundreds of thousands of women who have suffered from postpartum depression. While Mr. Cruise says that Mr. Lauer and I do not ‘understand the history of psychiatry,’ I’m going to take a wild guess and say that Mr. Cruise has never suffered from postpartum depression.”

He told her how she was being a bad mother by resorting to drugs and psychiatric help rather than picking vitamins and exercise to deal with her postpartum depression. That affected the actress heavily and she and Cruise were not on good terms for a long time. Things had not been good between the two although Shields did heavily regard the actor and the time they shared together.

Tom Cruise Worked For His Friendship With Brooke Shields

Tom Cruise apparently understood where he went wrong and went to Brooke Shields’ place to apologize to her. The actress admitted that the apology had been one she dearly needed and it helped mend the friendship that both of them cherished wholeheartedly.

“He came over to my house, and he gave me a heartfelt apology, and he apologized for bringing me into the whole thing and for everything that happened,” the actress continued, “And through it all, I was so impressed with how heartfelt it was. And I didn’t feel at any time that I had to defend myself, nor did I feel that he was trying to convince me of anything other than the fact that he was deeply sorry. And I accepted it.”

She was more than happy to see him admit where he went wrong despite still not changing his stance when it comes to drugs and psychiatry. However, it was more than enough for her to see her old friend standing on her doorstep with a heartfelt apology that fixed their broken friendship.
