Arsenal’s bid to win the Premier League title is all but over following a harrowing 3-0 home defeat to Brighton on Sunday, making it just nine points from a possible 21

Piers Morgan has never been shy to voice his opinion on his beloved Arsenal – and his latest claim has drawn his old friend Cristiano Ronaldo into the mix.
Arsenal’s stumbling title bid seemingly ran out of steam for good on Sunday, as they were well beaten 3-0 at home by Brighton. It meant dropped points for the fifth time in seven games for Mikel Arteta’s men, leaving Man City needing just one win from their final three League games to retain the title.
Having spent much of the season backing the Gunners to win a first title for 19 years, the divisive TV presenter laid into Arsenal’s players over their apparent lack of bottle: “All over. Totally outplayed by a team that just lost 1-5 to Everton,” he tweeted. “A horribly lacklustre, passion-devoid, spiritless, pathetic performance that cements an inexplicably dismal run-in to a season which promised so much. Bottom line: we choked.”
Piers Morgan wants Arsenal to recruit Ronaldo
As so often the case with the 58-year-old, the debate hasn’t ended there. After his explosive interview with Ronaldo in December led to the Premier League icon leaving Man United, Morgan urged Arteta to go and sign the former Real Madrid star on a short term deal.
Instead, ‘CR7’ rocked up in Saudi Arabi on a mega-money deal with Al Nassr, and like Arsenal, has seen his title ambitions with his new club slip away in the closing stages of the season. And after posting his wish-list for Arteta’s summer spending spree, Morgan was asked on Twitter: “Where is Ronaldo Piers? WHERE IS RONALDO?”
Ever defiant, the TalkTV man doubled down on his initial view, and even claimed that the all-time leading international goalscorer was keen to come to the Emirates: “Mock all you like, but if we’d signed Ronaldo when he left Utd, until the end of the season – as he was keen to do btw – we would have won the League,” he wrote.

Despite Lionel Messi winning the World Cup with Argentina last winter, Morgan has continued to insist Ronaldo is the GOAT of football, and added: “He knows how to win major trophies, and how to score goals when it really matters.”
The exchange came hours after Morgan had appeared on the talkSPORT Sports Breakfast Show with fellow Arsenal fan Laura Woods and Ally McCoist, and again ranted over what might have been: “I’ve heard all the stuff, we’re the youngest squad, we got tired – even though we were playing one tournament while City are in everything – I’ve heard all the excuses,” he said.
The truth is, we bottled it. There’s no other way to describe what’s happened in the last few weeks. We were eight points clear, with eight games to go, and we should have won the league. I’ll always believe that.”
