At the beginning of the new year, Jeremy Renner met with a horrible, horrible accident. Breaking over thirty bones in his body, he was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he was left face-to-face with death. Luckily, he survived and his co-star Scarlett Johansson couldn’t have been more relieved.

Scarlett Johansson talked about what went through her mind after hearing about Jeremy Renner’s accident. As she is grateful that he defeated all the odds against him by getting better, she states that this unfortunate incident was straight out of a superhero flick. Scarlett Johansson recalls paying a visit to Jeremy Renner, along with Chris Evans, and how the meet-up was one full of laughter and positivity.
In an interview with Variety, Scarlett Johansson revealed that she was “very upset” upon hearing the news of Jeremy Renner’s accident. However, as day by day, Renner got better and better, she was in awe of his strength, along with other co-stars. In a text chain that includes Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Johansson and Renner, the original Avengers discussed how Renner’s story was nothing short of a superhero film.
She and Evans paid a visit to Renner during his recovery period. Evans stated that the entire meet and greet wasn’t emotional at all and that they were just happy to be there with him. The Gifted actor went ahead to say that Renner has the ability to turn something so tragic into an inspiration.
As for Johansson’s experience, she was a bit more emotional. She stated that she didn’t know if she would ever be able to see Renner again and when they met, Johansson was over the moon to see him thriving and full of light.
While it’s true that it has been a while since the original Avengers last came together, the team spirit is still alive in each of them. Renner was blessed with an abundance of good luck the day he became friends with them! It’s truly heartwarming to see the love they all have for each other.
During his recovery, Renner tweeted a photo of him in bed stating that the broken bones with grow stronger just like his bond with his close ones. To the tweet, Evans replied by calling Renner a “tough mf’er” and joked that people should be checking up on the snowcat, instead. Renner saw the humor in his co-star’s tweet and replied stating that the machine sure was low on fuel.
Since the machine that ran over Renner was about 14,000 pounds, Renner’s recovery was no less than a miracle. However, pulled through in a classic Avengers manner and proved that he isn’t just an onscreen superhero! We can’t wait to see him back on his hundred percent.
