Just when you thought the roster of supermodels at New York Fashion Week couldn’t get more stacked (Bella! Gigi! Kaia!), Selena Gomez made her runway debut at the Coach fashion show.
During the SS19 presentation on Tuesday afternoon, Selena strutted her stuff in the front row, and at one point took a quick turn on the catwalk. She wore a Western-style dress with black and gold chiffon sleeves and gold leather fringe. She wore her hair in a low ponytail with a middle part, and kept her makeup bold yet neutral, with a smoky eye and nude lip.
Selena is the face of Coach and one of designer Stewart Vevers’ muses. In August, she debuted the second iteration of her own Selena x Coach capsule collection, and has been a front-row fixture at the brand’s shows over the past few years. On Coach’s Instagram stories, Selena revealed that her favorite piece from her namesake line is a black and gold bag, that would perfectly match the dress she wore at the show.
The singer-slash-muse shared a carousel of photos of herself on Instagram, both backstage and front-of-house, and it’s clear that she was just as at home on the runway as she usually is onstage.
Selena wasn’t the only A-lister to attend the event — Kaia Gerber hit the runway wearing an American-inspired outfit of her own, and Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams was also in the front row.
Not only did Selena kill it on the runway, she also showed off a new fashion trend that we will be copying for fall: Her black and gold chiffon dress featured sleeves that were just slightly too long, covering her hands and draping down a few more inches. Forget gloves — this is a new, runway-approved way to keep your hands warm once temperatures drop.
