This is the brutal moment a jaguar viciously ejected a caiman from the water with the animal in his jaws. The video, shot in Brazil’s northern Pantanal region, shows the predator King Juru grabbing the caiman while it is submerged.
The jaguar struggled to keep its grip as he sank his teeth into the reptile’s throat. The caiman was then dragged by the jaguar onto the bank of the river and driven into some bushes.
Abigail Martin, a wildlife researcher from New York who founded the Jaguar Identification Project, a non-profit organization developing a database on jaguars in the North Pantanal in 2013, shot the video in August of last year.
The organization posted on social media that they watched an amazing ᴍᴜʀᴅᴇʀ by the jaguar. The jaguar quickly modifies his grasp to enable him to drag the caiman to the bank for the decisive ᴋɪʟʟ.
According to the Jaguar Identification Project, there are 4,000 – 7,000 jaguars in the northern Pantanal region and it expects that its database will help researchers better understand their behavior. With a maximum length of 5.5 feet (170 cm), jaguars are the third largest cat in the world, behind the tiger and the lion.
Jaguars are sᴋɪʟʟed swimmers and frequently live near rivers, lakes, and wetlands, unlike many domestic cats. In addition to being stalk and bush predators, they frequently Bɪᴛᴇ their victims in the head or neck to ᴋɪʟʟ them.
Let’s watch how jaguar drowns and ᴋɪʟʟs the crocodile in the video below:
