The arrival of the militant political movement in Kabul in 2021 had a disastrous effect on women’s rights in the country.
They were immediately stripped of any right to an education as well as limits on employment and their access to public spaces.
The tale of resilience is described as a ‘a raw, un-sanitized depiction of the female plight in Afghanistan.’
It particularly focuses on three women, who endeavour to recover their identity and autonomy as viewers see the experience through their eyes.
Director Mani fled Afghanistan when the Taliban took power in the summer of 2021 and is living now in Europe.
Jennifer also whisked herself away to Las Vegas last month in April for CinemaCon to take part in the Sony Pictures Entertainment Presentation and to discuss her upcoming film, No Hard Feelings, which is being distributed by the company.
The comedy is slated to release in theaters next month on June 23, and is a genre that the star rarely tackles.
But upon the release of the trailer in March, fans expressed their excitement to see Jennifer taking on a less dramatic role.

The movie not only stars Lawrence, but also Natalie Morales, Matthew Broderick, Andrew Barth Feldman and Laura Benanti.
According to an IMDB synopsis, the premise follows Jennifer’s character, Maddie, who is on the ‘brink of losing her home’ and finds an ad from ‘parents looking for someone to bring their introverted 19-year-old son out of his shell before college. She has one summer to make him a man or die trying.’
While talking to Entertainment Weekly earlier this month, Jennifer, and director Gene Stupnitsky, revealed that the film is based on a real-life job posting.
‘Gene read the Craigslist ad to me, and I died laughing,’ the actress recalled. ‘I thought it was hilarious, but there wasn’t a script or anything. I just thought he had a funny idea. And then a couple years later, he handed me the funniest script I’ve ever read in my life.’
