Jennifer Lawrence, who is notoriously private, is occasionally spotted out and about in New York in her trademark low-key chic. Whether she’s running errands wearing breezy summer-in-the-city looks, or on a date night with her husband Cooke Maroney dressed in separates that spell out “quiet luxury”, the actor has mastered a sleek wardrobe that works well for her. The staple she can’t seem to leave the house without? Flat shoes, in all of their iterations.
Adidas Samba trainers have long been a celebrity favourite – devotees include Rihanna, Emily Ratajkowski and Hailey Bieber. And it appears that Lawrence is also a fan of the trending retro trainers, which were first introduced in 1950. Over the weekend, J Law was spotted wearing not one, but two pairs of Samba trainers.
She wore a grey suede and white leather panelled version on Saturday in New York, pairing them with wide-leg jeans, a cream overcoat, a white tank top and circle-frame sunglasses. On Sunday, she chose a forest-green pair with a similar look for a family outing, but this time her baggy jeans and oversized leather tote were from The Row. Other trainers in her repertoire include Reebok high-tops, Nike Air Force 1s and New Balance 550s. However, trainers are far from the only flat shoes in Lawrence’s collection.
J Law also has a soft spot for ballet slippers and understated pumps that are, to put it frankly, rather expensive. Last year, the actor was seen wearing an array of styles from her favourite minimalist label The Row (founded by her friends the Olsen sisters), including its paper-thin Ozzy slippers (yours for £720, or up to £1,350 for an embellished pair), Ava flats, Egon sandals and Sleeper flats. She’s also keen on Mary-Janes by Aeyde, which she wore most recently with an impeccably cut shorts suit and Prada’s Re-Edition 2000 nylon mini bag.
Among Lawrence’s other noteworthy (and unexpected) flat shoe moments? Melissa vegan plastic sandals, which were modelled after classic French fisherman’s shoes, plush Ugg slippers, and the best-selling Boston clogs from Birkenstock (proving that not every pair she owns has to come with a luxury price tag). Our favourite anti-heel influencer is J Law, and we can’t wait to see which flat she wears next.
