As an ESPN analyst and former player, Kendrick Perkins is well known now. He never achieved stardom, but he was nonetheless a reliable center who played in the league for a long time, most notably helping the Boston Celtics win the title in 2008.
Nowadays, Kendrick Perkins frequently offers his opinions on TV shows and offers his interpretation of events in the league.
Recently, we saw Kendrick Perkins make a joke about how Serge Ibaka may have lied about his age. Serge Ibaka responded by blasting Kendrick Perkins for that accusation and also shared some information about Perkins’ actions in the Oklahoma City Thunder locker room. Ibaka claimed that he used to trash-talk Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook behind their backs after poor games, adding that he has “continued doing the same in the media.”
Although I am disappointed I am not surprised to see these actions from someone who got his job by breaking the locker room code and by spreading lies about two of his former teammates and brothers like KD and Russ
When KD had a bad game you criticized him behind his back, and when Russ had a bad game then you criticized him. You were not a locker room leader, and then you continued doing the same in the media.
I understand everyone needs to do their job and take care of their families, but you are proof not everybody knows how to do it with class and dignity.
There is no doubt that this comment from Kendrick Perkins was in bad taste, and there is absolutely no evidence that Serge Ibaka lied about his age. This sort of rumor can really hurt someone’s perception, and it is good to see that Serge Ibaka called him out for speaking ill of him.
Kevin Durant Has Previously Called Kendrick Perkins A Sellout
Serge Ibaka’s criticism of Kendrick Perkins for his actions is far from the first time he has been criticized for controversial statements. In fact, Kevin Durant once called Kendrick Perkins a “sellout” after the analyst criticized Kyrie Irving back in 2020. It is clear that he isn’t a huge fan of Kendrick Perkins either, and it is easy to see why.
Hopefully, we see Kendrick Perkins respond to the criticism from Serge Ibaka in the future. It will be interesting to see what he says in response to Serge Ibaka’s thread and whether he addresses Serge Ibaka’s claim about him trash-talking his teammates behind their backs.
