Manchester United fans have given Cristiano Ronaldo’s former chant to Argentine youngster Alejandro Garnacho, following the Portuguese star’s bitter exit from the club.
Ronaldo’s exit was confirmed by mutual consent last month after his controversial interview with Piers Morgan before the World Cup, where the forward hit out at manager Erik ten Hag and the club.
Fans appeared keen to move on from the saga by adapting Ronaldo’s former chant to serenade teenager Garnacho during United’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

In footage shared on social media, fans are heard singing ‘Viva Garnacho, Viva Garnacho, running down the wing, hear United sing, Viva Garnacho’.
United supporters had previously sung ‘Viva Ronaldo, Viva Ronaldo, John Terry slipped and United won the cup, Viva Ronaldo’, referencing the club’s 2008 Champions League final win over Chelsea.
Fans had previously chanted the song to Garnacho after the Spanish-born Argentinian youth international scored twice against Nottingham Forest in May to win the FA Youth Cup.
Garnacho has made 13 appearances for Manchester United during a breakthrough season
Ronaldo has been looking for a new club since leaving Manchester United last month
Garnacho continued his breakthrough into the United first team by coming off the bench against the same opposition yesterday, with the 18-year-old making his 13 appearance of the season.
The match was United’s first Premier League fixture since Ronaldo’s departure, with chants having also been directed at the 37-year-old during their Carabao Cup tie against Burnley last week.
While Garnacho looks to have a bright future at Old Trafford, Ronaldo remains a free agent following his exit last month, after scoring 145 goals in 356 games across two spells.
Ronaldo has been linked with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, with a deal potentially worth £173m-a-year.
Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Fred were on target in United’s 3-0 win over Forest, a result which moved them to within one point of fourth-placed Tottenham in the Premier League.
