It has been revealed many times by many actors from the industry that the characters they play become part of their being, something that they feel attached to more than most things, and star Hugh Jackman is not any different from the people who feel that way.
He spent 17 years of his career playing the character of Logan/Wolverine in the X-Men franchise as well as Wolverine standalone films, he had bonded with the character as if he was the mutant himself.

And when it came the time for him to hang the claws once and for all in 2017’s Logan, he made sure that he would do his level best to outperform his previous appearances as Wolverine in this film to pay homage to the character. But fast forward to 2022, when Jackman has returned to play the original Mutant from the Marvel comics in the upcoming Deadpool 3. Although most people think that Logan will be revived in the film, the star reveals why this won’t be the case.

With his heartfelt goodbye to the character of Wolverine in 2017’s Logan, Hugh Jackman promised that this appearance was going to be his last as his adamantine body deteriorates from the metal poisoning. Fans were of course sad to see Jackman hang the claws for the rest of time, but they also respected the actor for all that he had done for the X-Men franchise. But out of nowhere, fans were treated to the news that he was returning in Deadpool 3 as the ferocious slasher.

The logical conclusion that fans made at first were the possibility that the film will try to resurrect Logan from the dead after the events of Logan, but Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds, as well as Jackman himself, confirmed that the events of Deadpool 3 will take place before Logan met his fate. During his conversation with SiriusXM, The Greatest Showman star revealed this reasoning for not going to revive the character that he had dedicated so much of his life to. He said:
“But all because of this device they have in the Marvel world of moving around timelines, now we can go back, because, you know, its science. And so I don’t have to screw with the Logan timeline, which was important to me and I think probably to the fans too”
Many fans felt that the ending of Logan was the best send-off to Wolverine, so they were worried whether Deadpool 3 will tamper with it or not. Thankfully, the film decided to preserve that memory that the fans and Jackman himself cherished.

After the establishment of the fact that Logan will not be revived in Deadpool 3, the theories started to revolve around time travel and dimension jumping through the space-time continuum. As witnessed in Deadpool 2, Wade Wilson takes hold of Cable’s time travel device and tries to right some wrongs by jumping to different timelines and realities. Many suspects that this same device will become the catalyst by which he reaches Logan before he dies in Logan.
