Marvel Studios introduced Brie Larson as Captain Marvel in the 2019 film. While the studio’s attempt at introducing the strongest superhero in the MCU did not go as planned, fans still have a lot to say about the character. Joe Rogan, who claims that these fictional superheroes have heavily influenced his life, is also one of them. While discussing the MCU superheroes with Alonzo Bodden during one of his podcasts, he shared his opinion on how Marvel Studios ruined Brie Larson’s MCU debut.
Fans consider Captain Marvel’s casting one of the most controversial castings. The 2019 film failed at leaving a good impression on fans and ended up being one of the worst-reviewed movies of the MCU. However, being an important part of the MCU, the character continued to appear in films and is all set to star in the upcoming film, The Marvels.
Joe Rogan Claims Captain Marvel Has Too Many Powers
Joe Rogan would definitely not be the first one to share harsh criticism of Brie Larson’s character in the MCU. While fans have been critical of the casting, the studio seems to be planning to improve the portrayal of the strongest superhero in the MCU.
While discussing some of the strongest superheroes in the MCU, the podcaster shared his thoughts on how the studio messed up Captain Marvel. The discussion that started with Captain America, and Iron Man soon led to Captain Marvel as Rogan said, “Captain Marvel comes down, f**ks them all up.”
“They gave her too many powers, she almost has too many powers,” he added. Followed by his statement, comedian Alonzo Bodden shared that the studio “gave her everything, except a good movie.” Joe Rogan agreed with Bodden as he said, “That’s true, they keep fu**ing her in the movie department.”
The comedian then claimed that the movie was not very impressive as it only “filled the story” to introduce the character in the MCU. Fans have pointed out multiple factors for disliking the character and the 2019 movie and they claim that it only grew after Brie Larson’s “nonchalant” and “flat” performance.
What to Expect From The Marvels?
The Marvels is set to feature Monica Rambeau, Carol Danvers, and her super-fan Kamala Khan. The film is expected to follow the trio trying to save the universe. Captain Marvel was last seen in the last episode of Miss Marvel. The episode shows her switching spots with Kamala Khan, which probably happened due to Miss Marvel’s bangle.
Teyonah Parris, who portrays Monica Rambeau in the MCU, shared in her interview with Variety that the upcoming film will explore the relationship between her character and Carol Danvers.
“Little Monica had a relationship with Carol Danvers, and we’ll get to see what happens with that relationship, and how or if, it brings them to the present,” she said.
It is also believed that Captain Marvel would have to work with Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau. And the trio would have to learn to handle their powers after they come together to save the universe.
The Marvels is set to release on July 28, 2023.
