“It’s possible”- Sven Goran-Eriksson reveals who Liverpool should replace Jurgen Klopp with

Former England boss suggests Liverpool appoint Lionel Scaloni if Jurgen Klopp leaves

Speaking to OLBG (h/t Liverpool Echo), former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has suggested Liverpool hire Lionel Scaloni as their next manager if Jurgen Klopp gets sacked.

Scaloni has been one of the hits in football management since taking over the Argentina job in 2018. He led his country to a Copa America title in 2021. He followed that up by lifting the World Cup in Qatar last month.

The former West Ham United player’s tactical ingenuity has been hailed by many because the South American side needed something special after losing their opening game to Saudi Arabia in the World Cup.

Here’s what Eriksson said about why Scaloni could be a good option for Liverpool (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“Lionel Scaloni will be of interest to many clubs, next season he will be one of the coaches who will end up in the Premier League. If Jurgen Klopp was to get sacked this season, it’s possible for Liverpool to appoint Scaloni as their next manager, but Klopp has done a great job overall, I hope he does not get sacked.”

As much as the idea and suggestion are welcome to hire Scaloni, it is weird and laughable to think that Klopp will be sacked in the near future.

This is not because the German is untouchable even if the team performs as badly as anything, it is more due to the fact that we have seen how this team has reversed adversity into memorable moments under the current boss (change in fortunes from 2020/21 to 2021/22 season being the example).

So, while the current situation and performance of the team are below par, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that we could back to our best very soon. The things Liverpool have achieved under Klopp, even under tight financial constraints, buy him enough time to turn the current form around.

We face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup on Saturday. Winning this game with a good performance would not only be important to stay in this competition, but to generate the momentum needed in the coming key league games. With no games in the midweek on either side of this game, we can expect a strong line-up to start.
